SLB LT1 makes 760whp with a P1X
Brett @ PrayPerformance just finished up a stone stock long block LT1 P1x combo and it made some Killa power.

No pistons or anything?? I'm assuming the meth is helping keep the heat down significantly? I wonder if this is like a track only type setup, or if this could be street driven? If so this may be something I am interested in the future for. Still unbelievably awesome!

Most Meth Inj systems are boost activated. I know on mine it didnt come online until 4 or 5 psi or so.

That’s killer. Nice job. The P1x is a beast.
Curious, when running alky injection on this setup, what do you use? How much do you run through in a week, month? I will start another thread, but curious about your experience on this setup.

it really depends on the tune and how safe the car is tuned. The more timing a person tries to run while chasing a HP number the higher the cylinder temps and pressure end up being. Get the cylinder temps up and the pressure up and the rings gaps close up until they finally butt together and then that is how you lose a ring land on a piston.

I ran VP racing M1 Ethanol in my car, the windshield washer tank was my tank. It is a 1g tank and I would have to fill it about once every 2 weeks.

Good numbers for sure. But you have to remember who did the build. Pray has it figured out and seems to be able to always get some extra power that others may not. Great job Brett

Yes there are issues with ring gap in the LT1, but it's not as simple as '650whp'. Variances in what gaps you got from the factory install, variances in use of your car (like WOT for long periods, 20 minute road course sessions, or only short WOT applications of not more than a 1/4 mile), variances in tune, whether cooling methods are used like methanol injection and/or E85, etc will all factor in.

1ss is right and I went there last year with too much boost, timing, etc. So we built a forged short block with lower compression and gapped the rings for boost as Manley recommended. Now we are in the in the mid 800s rwhp on about 15 psi so hopefully good to go on the short block.

Still not convinced it is a ring gap issue based on the failure pics I've seen so far.
It's more of a detonation issue. Get the fueling/octane right, and lo and behold, the engine stays together. |
