Tires?!
Hey everyone, could you share me your recommendations for street tires? I don't track and I daily my 1LE. What are the best street tires for this sort of driving? I believe the Michelin Pilot Sport 4s are the best but I could be wrong. Is it? Also, wondering which are the best affordable daily street tires that are pretty decent? Does it have to stay 305s in the rear and 285s in the front (staggered)? Wonder how 285s would look all around..maybe even 305s. I do like to have some fun on the street though, after all it is an SS and a 1LE at that. This forum is teaching me a lot because i'm obviously a nooby at this automotive subject and i'm really enjoying learning. Thank you all!
*EDIT* I like to go on canyon runs maybe once a month or so! And i'm looking for longer tread life! Long tread life is a big selling point for me. Could you provide to me how many miles the tire you recommend me can last? Last edited by greg0ry; 10-23-2019 at 03:38 PM. |

The Michelin PS4S or PSS would work great for you. I would expect 20-30k miles on them. There are also the Continental Extremecontact (best wet performance), Yokohama Advan V601(this is a new tire, not too much info yet) , and Nittto 555 G2(great value/price) that I would consider.

20K+ on a summer tire should be lottery ticket fantasy. You want that kind of mileage your sights will have to come way down to perhaps an A/S.
You bought the wrong kind of car for tire mileage. With that said Indy500 is what i'd recommend to you. Or the Mich A/S3 |

OP, I think you said in another thread you are at 9K miles? If you went through GS3's in 9K miles, I can't see MPS 4s going double that. Sad to think of putting such a tire on a 1LE, but if thats what you need right now then an A/S is really what you have to get. VinnAY gave some great recommendations too.

Will the 1LE rims even fit any A/S tires? I checked out those MPS A/S 3s and they don't seem to have the 305 size and such. |

The way things are going im probably going to get 13-14k miles on these tires that came with the car, the goodyear eagle supercar thingies (lol). Don't think I can squeeze 20k+ miles on MPS 4s?

What do you guys think about these wheels all around?: PILOT SPORT A/S 3+ (W- OR Y-SPEED RATED) - SIZE: 285/30ZR20
285s all around coming down from 305 rear and 285 (or was it 275) in the front. Are these gonna suck on the road and on canyon runs? I go on canyon runs but i dont drive like a maniac. What kind of tread life would one expect on these? |

I can only speak from my experience with the PS4S's. Unfortunately, the alignment I had done was horrible and it ate up the fronts. However, the rears have 12K miles on them and there's plenty left. I drive aggressively, i.e., hard acceleration and cornering. They also come with a 30K mile guarantee, although it's cut to 15K because of the staggered tires on the 1LE.

I run an A/S on my 1LE wheels for the winter and a 275/35 up front and a 285/35 on the rear...works like a charm. I use the BFG Comp2 A/S.

Yeah?? How do the 285s look in the back? I love the meaty look of the 305s atm. How many miles you think you could get out of those BFG Comp2's if you drive the way i'd drive?

Tires
I'm at 19.5k on the original sc3s... but they've been due for a change for a little while now.
