Anyone run the Toyo r888r on the ZL1 1LE? OEM sizes...305/30 19f & 325/30 19r?

Would like to hear if they're better in anyway then the OEM Goodyear ESF1-3R's.

Faster lap times? Do they last longer?

If not that big of a difference, I'd personally stay with the Goodyears as I believe they're less expensive then the r888r, no?

Had some great conversations around these on the autoX course at CamaroCon. I'm a huge fan of the GY 3R on the road track but they take a couple laps to warm up which makes them not too good for AutoX.

The guys running Toyo had good grip from the start and these tires are also legal to use in most SCCA classes as well. I might give them a try on my second set of wheels, but not giving up GY for the road track.

I have been running these for some time on the street. I love them & will get them again. Great grip on dry compared to the stock tires and not too bad in wet as long as you take it easy. Running the 315 on back

While I have no experience with R888R's or SC3R's, everything I have read (tests and reviews) and heard from members on this forum with experience tells me they are definitely not as good on the track as the SC3R but better for the street in that they take less time to warm up where as the SC3R sounds like it's basically too difficult to warm up on the street.

Again I have no experience with either tire, but will be trying the SC3R next track season based on hearing that these tires never get greasy and lap times never fall off, until they start cording at least.

I run 345 30 19 haven't had the chance to use at the track yet but they feel pretty good especially of the line!

I saw one guy running the the Kumho V770 ACR tires setup.. 355 30 19 and he tracks his car and likes them a lot!

Too_Fast, how much louder are these R888R's compared to stock?

I have the R’s in 325/30/20 size. Grip for days! Love the look too. They are significantly louder than my stock GYSCs but doesn’t bother me one bit.

They sound like a bad wheel bearing!

FWIW, GY3Rs are now available in OEM ZL1 sizes 285 and 305/30/20.
Conversely, GY3s are now available in OEM ZLE sizes 305and 325/30/19.

You might consider the GYs, IMHO a superior tire.

They are much louder ( but my car is loud and drowns it out ), but I could tell once they had a few miles on them.

FWIW, a set of 3Rs in the 20" sizes is $200 more than a set in 19" at tirerack...

So the 3R is really only a bargain in the ZLE sizes.

The R888Rs are almost R7 money, but would certainly last a lot longer.

R888R are definitely NOT as fast as GY SCF1 3R for road course lap times.

R888R are better for drag racing, and last longer than GY SCF1 3R under all conditions--street, strip, track.

R888R and R888 before them, have long been known to overheat and get greasy faster than better track tires like Hoosiers and Michelin PSC2s. R888R take longer to heat up, dont have the same level of peak grip as either Hoosier R7/A7 or PSC2, and fall off faster. Same is true of R888R vs. GY SCF1 3R.

No high end sports car manufacturer includes R888R as an OEM street/track tire--most, like Porsche, BMW, and Ferrari, use PSC2 or Pirelli PZero.

R888R is a very good high grip street and drag tire with longer life and tread depth than others, that's it IMO.

This follows with what I mentioned about being good for AutoX too.
