just keep it in a bit lower gear to keep the revs up, and just the sound may perk things up for you

It was a fun car no doubt. I could never fully get invested into the car however. I'm a Camaro guy through and through.

I think you like your car, you're just not completely sold on it. Between that and your history of trading cars or whatever, you're probably a fender bender away from getting rid of your SS. You're probably waiting for a reason to trade it in or sell it and may not even realize it.

Best of luck. I get excited every time I sit in mine and would only get rid of it for a 23'

I'll say it again, if you can afford a 3rd gen while keeping the 6th I highly suggest it. The 3rd gen is a really fun car to drive. Whether it's a stock 305/V8 or a LS1 swapped IROC. These cars are very light compared to 6th gen's and considerably smaller. If you Google images of both cars side by side it's obvious.

They are great cruising cars and handle and maneuver with the best of them. If you compare 3rds to all the other generation Camaros, by weight, height, length, and width, they're the smallest of the group.

Mine turns heads every where I go.

Gen 6:

188.3″ L x 74.7″ W x 53.1″ H Curb weight = 3,625

Gen 3:

187.99" L x 72.8" W x 50.00" H Curb Weight = 3,362

The Gen 3 drives smaller then it is. The Gen 6 drives bigger then it is?

You're car is very nice.

Thank you. The 6th doesn't trail very far behind in dimensionally but in weight it does. It's the 2nd heaviest Camaro behind the 5th. The 3rd is almost 1st place in every measurement (smallest). I believe it's the 1st gen that is the shortest.

I think that you're on to something. Does your Gen 3 drive smaller then it is?

C&D has a similar issue with the C8...

I have 9 years of street driving and 3 years of road course racing in a 3rd gen.
It drives about like you would expect for the size. I was surprised to see somebody saying the 6th gen is much bigger. It’s not. It is heavier of course. 2nd gen is a bit smaller and has a lower profile like the 3rd gen. But they all drive similarly IMO.
6th gen Defies gravity a bit considering how heavy it is.
BMW does the same. I think frame stiffness is a big part of that.
The frame in my 2nd gen is much stiffer than stock and that really helps the car handle well. The 275/295 200TW tire footprint doesn’t hurt either.

My 2.0T 6th gen is 3281 pounds. That's lighter than any 3rd gen.

I just did some quick napkin math on a LS3 build 3rd gen
The way I would want it would run $40K
Heck for that you could get a C6 Z06

And actually you can build the equivalent C4 for $30K if start with a manual car
No trans or rear end needed is main difference.

But gee for $30K I bet you could find a gen 5 Z28
Or a really nice C5 Z06 with some upgrade budget.

So either one is a tough sell for me at this point.

You think a 2nd handles better than a 3rd? My 3rd doesnt bat an eye to just about everything I throw at it. The 6th feels much bigger than a 3rd when driving but mainly because the seat sits so low compared to the dash. You feel buried in the car. The 3rd sits up higher in regard to the dash. It probably makes a little difference that mine has some lean/rake. Its 3 inches narrower than a 6th

I'm curious on how you came up with this number and what is thrown into the build. You can find 3rd gen Camaros with LS motors all over the internet for well below that number.

Find a roller and a wrecked car that's selling a LS engine and you have a nice head start to an awesome car
