I'm assuming this tank is supposed to lower the intake temps, does it do that?

Maybe a little but, nothing significant.

The point of this is to provide a way for users to check/fill the fluid for the S/C without a special tool or the need to pay a dealership $100 to check it.

My take on it was increasing thermal mass of the cooling system to handle high load better without heat soaking as fast.

So its just a reservoir that resembles what we send out with our Magnuson Supercharger kit. I didn't realize the Zl1 didn't have a reservoir from the factory. Ours is just a small version of that one. Probably holds a quart.

This was actually answered in a previous thread in concerns to the heat exchanger from Weapon-X. I think one of the roadrace guys brought up the fact that if you don't have the proper exchanger to remove the latent heat... you will end up with a hot system with extra capacity.

I installed the less-fancy ADM version of this system last weekend, it's pretty straightforward and definitely can see how it increases the user friendliness of the system. Not expecting any performance gains other than the possible prevention of lost power if air develops in the system under heavy tracking since the air will purge out naturally.

UPDATE on my Cordes tank install.

After driving around with the Cordes tank for about 300 miles I had to add about two ounces of dex to top off the tank after the initial install.

As I was a little skeptical and for the sake of curiosity I also made my own poor man's intercooler bleeder (bit of 3/4" tubing and a plastic bottle) to see if there was any air in the system. Result was no air bubbles out of the system. I even jacked up the driver side front to get the bleed port even higher - still no bubbles.

Did you modify the rain cap on the hood or just removed it. Id love to see a picture if you did modify it. I bought one and decided to sell because I didnt want to loose the rain protection, so I wonder about your experience with it.

I removed it. I have it marked with a sharpie to modify though. I don't drive it in the rain and I waterless wash it so I am in no hurry. Thought about buying another one to modify so if I ever go back to stock.

Anyone have a water deflector they'd like to unload???

Guys with the Cordes setup, with it just mounted to plastic fan shroud are there any concerns about how well it will hold up in a hard launch? Tank and water looking at 9ish lbs snatching against plastic.

Increasing the capacity of the system lengthens the time before the fluid could become heat soaked. Some tanks you could also add ice too for lower IAT (until it melts).
