Race ramp cribs - 12"
Anyone using these for DIY maintenance? Looking at the 12" tall cribs.

I use the 8" race ramps cribs because they line up with the 56" 2 piece race ramps height perfectly for a level car once lifted. My jack just barely clears the 8" height anyways. No way the 12" cribs would work for me.

Thx for the replies.
So your saying a 12" crib wouldn't work with your floor jack? I plan on getting the low profile jack from harbor freight. I suppose I'll need a pinch weld hockey puck also. |

It will work but you will need the pinch weld lifting puck plus a couple more lifting pucks to get the car on and off the 12” cribs. I have that jack and with two pucks it is close on my 10” cribs.

That's what I'm using the HF jack... good luck lifting the bottom of the tires off the ground that high. I lifted from the rear support brace near the diff. Lifting as high as we need on one side seemed dangerous, while lifting from near the diff was much safer and more controlled. |

I use the 10” cribs, and that’s borderline sketchy for me when lowering the ZL1 off the cribs. I can’t imagine the 12” cribs

I agree, I'm using an Arcan XL2T low profile. It's a beast and I still have to use a large block of wood under the steel support beam behind the rear diff to lower it off the 10" cribs. |

So you guys are saying using a floor jack and hockey puck at the pinch welds will not work for the 10" cribs? You have to block under a support member to get the wheel high enough to slide the 10" crib under?

You can, I used the zl1 add on’s pinch weld adapter but it’s super sketchy. The car is way in air on one end and at an extreme angle. So I drive up the ramps and lift the rear using the support member so it’s even.

You would have to get really creative (read: sketchy) to use the 12” cribs. I have the 10” and that’s borderline. Go 10”.

If you've ever jacked the crap out of one corner of a car with zero suspension travel you'll know what is being said...getting it this high off the ground from one corner is a hairy situation. Go 10" and once the front is up on the cribs (one corner at a time using pinch welds), jack the rear from the center support using wood (to get both rear corners up at the same time).

When I lift just the front for oil change or just the rear for diff change the two piece 10” are super easy. You can lift each side up 5” at a time and makes coming off the cribs using the pinch weld a piece of cake.
