Back to Stock Brake Pads
I also got tired of the dust from stock pads, and switched to PowerStop pads a few months ago. Unbeknownst to me, those pads ended up damaging my rotors, and thankfully the dealer replaced them under warranty.
I still kept the PowerStop pads in, and after another couple hundred miles, those new rotors did not perform well, and they started looking "spotty." So I just bit the bullet and had the dealer put in new stock pads, and lightly re-surface the rotors. Now, my car is back to normal: Great braking power and a bunch of dust on the wheels. Lesson learned.

Hi, fellas
I am not sure about Powerstop yet, but I have some Carbotech XP20's on my ZLE. Bedded properly and track car only situation. The rotors wont hold up too very long with race pads. I have heard or read that they were even worse on street due to the temps not being high enough to properly operated the pad rotor combo. I am not sure of this, but I believe it after running these pads at AutoClub Speedway. They stop insanely hard but something gotta give I guess. Dust..... insane amounts, but.. so far worth it for this track car. |

Yeah I've read similar things. I'm nervous to change to race pads and highly raise the consumable costs of pads then rotors or have to purchase expensive rotors when I get decent stopping stock with much less costs. If I were chasing 10th's or get tired of the stock set up I may feel different. As is I can gain time by improving driving and seat time.

Stock pads are great, lines and fluid should be enough for this car honestly.

I went through the same thing and ended up with EBC yellow stuff pads. They dust about half what the oem ones dust and yet offer tons of bite. Unfortunately, the ones currently available do not cover the entire surface of the brake rotor, they cover about 90% of it from the outside in (meaning a small portion of the inside of the surface area is not contacted by the rotor). Not ideal since it's lost surface area that could otherwise be used, but they offer tons of grip and somewhat low dust so for now they'll do.
