Not worth taking to dealership to fix.

HUD wasn't a factor to make the purchase; I cared more about blind spot monitoring and rear cross traffic alert. HUD is a bonus, definitely hooked and use it all the time.
Must've been a common problem. Now in the 19's you can adjust the HUD alignment in the DIC. Mine was a little off from the factory and was able to rotate it.

Someone mentioned that it's distracting, I don't even notice mine 90% of the time. Just blends in until I look for it.

I've tried to like it but end up turning it off every time as it looks like crap with polarized glasses and having to fiddle with it due to lighting conditions gets old. That said I'm so conditioned to scanning the dash it's hard to break the habit.

Sucks that we can't adjust rotation in the 16-18's... this is part of what I meant by relative lack of configurability.

Aside from having the color HUD in my 16 the HUD in my 14 was better. It showed more information and the media screen actually worked correctly.

I'm really glad that it isn't.

The concept is fine but the typical OE location is not. Not having to look into some dark recess for information is great, but forcing me to see it all the time by placing it that close to central vision amounts to "too much information" and distraction when I don't need to know what it's displaying. Which is most of the time.

Just so you know, I have an A-pillar mounted Aeroforce Interceptor (currently set for speed and coolant temperature) in the '08 GT, and the '19 WRX has a multifunction display sitting at the top of the dash but below the windshield line. Either location provides good access to information when you need or want it, while staying out of your way when you don't.

Fair enough, Norm, although one can adjust the position of the HUD vertically, and its lowest point is very close to the hood. Of course, to each their own, I for one don't think I'd want to focus on much of the environment or traffic outside so low under my center of vision.

One other thing I absolutely love about the HUD is that it can display navigation info, so I can see exactly where to make a tricky exit or turn, no need to check the center screen or the phone or even the cluster under the steering wheel.

Love it! The shift lights are super helpful when driving on a road course. But even in everyday driving, the HUD is amazingly convenient. I never look at the actual speedometer or tachometer anymore. It's even better with the integrated Navigation system, where you can set the HUD to Navigation mode, and then free up the MyLink touchscreen for audio or whatever else you want there.

Now that I have it I couldn't imagine not having it.

They don't force you to see it by the way. You can dim it to invisibility if that's your preference.

Don't get me wrong - there are times when I do want quicker and easier access to certain information than is possible by looking down into the instrument panel. I just don't want that information to be displayed where I can't help but see it the rest of the time. IOW, when it would become at least a minor (but persistent) distraction . . . never mind how I might know how this could happen.

I refer to the A-pillar Aeroforce gauge in the GT for speed and temperature almost exclusively whether I'm on the track or driving on the street, and the multifunction display in the WRX is the only way I can access any indication of engine warmup and running temperature. Right there when I want it, out of sight when I don't.

I like and use it when I remember it's there. It's crazy how easy it is to ignore it/not see it when it's on bright. I would have thought by now that someone would have come up with a square piece of film to put where it projects, so you can somehow see it with polarized sunglasses though?!?

I don't feel like the his distracts me or blocks my vision in any way but I understand where these guys are coming from, you can just position it more comfortably vertically though. If anything looking down at the dash is a bigger nuisance imo. I actually hate when I race other cars now because I've grown so accustomed to the hud lol.

I don't get people's complaints about having to constantly adjust the brightness for the time of day, I live in FL where it gets super bright and have a setting that works universally at all times. You also have the choice to dim it totally out and use it only when really necessary. It's a great feature.

I bought my car off the lot with the HUD option, I could have taken it or left it, but it was there.

When it was new I used it but after time I just keep it turned off. If I had the option to configure what it displayed, I would probably utilize it more. The shift light function is cool, but other than that I find it distracting. And annoying that it is not level with the hood / car

I read a post that says you can adjust the rotation by pulling the dash trim cover off on the older models and make adjustments. Mine was square from the factory so I had no issues. The one improvement I would like to see is more programing what you can put on it. Would like a tach only old style round and shift lite. Get with it GM. My HUD and back up camera is a lot better quality then the one in my wife's 19 Camry.
