3.73 rear swap
Has anyone tried swapping in a 3.73 rear end in an I4 car?

I considered the 3.73 swap before I did the LSD swap. I'm glad I didn't though with the A8. Its very difficult to get the 1-2 shift timing and speed where you want it because it happens to fast. I couldn't imagine having 3.73's and trying to dial that shift in. The M6 would be much more feasible for this swap.

Yes that's exactly my thinking, M6 comes with a 3.27 (ltg) so a 3.73 rear gear should pick up some speed. Didn't know if anyone has tried it.

I believe you will be the first if you do it, at least with the I4. I know some A8 ss guys did it, and it's almost comical listening to it shift just driving around town lol.

Is the 3.73 the SS rear end?

The SS M6 has much longer transmission gearing than the T4. T4 2nd gear is 61ish, SS 2nd is 68-70. With our transmission ratios I don't think you would want anything shorter.

vs a 295ft/lbs turbo that needs to be shifted sooner to maintain boost on the stock turbo. |
