Just did Kooks headers high flow cats with my Borla Stype catback at first I was not sure about the sound but the more I drive it I like it. It sure screams at WOT. It is a bit higher pitched than with the stock manifold and cats. Cold starts in the morning wake up the neighbors

Corsa all the way.
They all say what they own..

Corsa FTW

...and to the OP, it makes no difference what brand of headers you have as far as rasp. It's all about the catback and mufflers.

I just did ARH 1 7/8 cat delete with Corsa Extreme, it is loud but sounds great and no drone what so ever. Inside you do not hear it at normal driving. But it talks when you want it to.

Exactly what I used to have. Best setup ever.

AWE catback is a super close 2nd to Corsa, but ARH is the way to go for headers if you can handle the price.

I don't think drone is the issue, it's the screaming eagles sound that comes along with the headers and no cat. even with a high flow cat, the raspiness is bothering me.

I have zero drone when driving and cruising, but once you open it up it's loud... at WOT, it's uncomfortably loud especially in tunnels.

Copy that Dr Feelgood!! My Zl1 screams America from the top of the mountain. Cat sounds great under normal operation but step on it and 🦅🦅🦅America. Maybe the Borla resonator 60608 with a minor fab to match the 3" to cut down a bit

Just got done installing the Borla resonator 60608 2.75" to my zl1 Borla Stype catback 3". Picked up some Stainless adapters from the Ebay. I had to do some cutting and weld on some adapters for a good fit. Brought my existing exhaust to a local muffler shop to get them swaged out. They were super tight and was struggling fitting the cats to the catback quick stretch was worth it. Not to hard of a custom job. At the end everything clamped together like the aftermarket Borla should.

It still is loud like I wanted.....but it has a deeper rumble to it now. I am super pleased with the results. Not sure why Borla does not make a 3" resonator for our cars I think they would sell a bunch. I could post a video but really videos don't do it any justice.

Keep all OEM CATS and then add Borla S-Type Cat-Back Exhaust. I have this w/out headers and it is awesome.

I did have that keeping the OEM manifold and cats too. but my future mod list requires headers and I did want it louder also. Retained the deep growl and added volume. And of course zero drone. I actually think it sounds smoother also. Of course everyone has their opinions and preferences. But I am happy with my end result.

OEM cats will melt once you start adding more power. This is the exact setup I had, it was just a little too tame for me after a few weeks.

Then I added a 2.3" upper, and that was too much for the OEM Cats, so I upgraded to the Kooks 1 7/8" with high flow cats...

I basically posted this for you Dr Feelgood I remembered that you were in the same boat I was with our exhaust and rasp thoughts. I wanted to share my opinion. The Borla resonator is not the cheapest option but it sounds great. IMO.
Pulley and Methanol injection are my winter mods!! Giddy up!!

Yes sir, I was interested to hear how this would sound. I am glad it worked out. I had already purchased those 12" resonators,,, gonna install those next week and see if it takes that morning rasp away a little.
