a10 wierd shift event
2018 zl1 a10, bought used with 10k. I've put another 500 on it so far.
when shifting with paddles, the 3-4 shift is pretty harsh, but in auto mode it's more docile. lately I've noticed that even in D it's just, off a bit, with manual mode being more accentuated. It feels like the tranny is releasing the clutches for 3, then a split second later grabbing 4 after the revs have changed. you can sort of feel the lash change to decel, then pick back up to accel. this is all with partial throttle, normal from a stop sign, etc. I have noticed that this only happens when the trans isn't up to temp/maybe 10-15 mile drive, but I have noticed it a few times when it's up to temp, just not consistent. Is there anything I can check before I take it to the dealer (it is certified preowned, with original warranty still intact)? I know on my 2017 ss A8, there are procedures you can go through to help it relearn how to shift between certain gears, and I've utilized those before, with some success. Does the A10 have these? Am I looking at a me problem or is it possibly a mechanical problem I do have a few of the pdr videos I can post if it would help. It obviously doesn't translate the same when watching it on video, but in some circumstances you can hear the exhaust note change like I'm describing, and you can watch the revs fluctuate Last edited by crosive; 09-21-2019 at 08:13 AM. |

here is the video. all of this is in manual mode, I tried to slowly get up to speed from the stop sign, you can watch the rpm fluctuate here. Then I make the sweeping left turn onto the freeway with a slow acceleration, you can both see and hear the rpm when it blips this time. I'm hoping I was clear on explaining the issue as I saw it. |

yup...3-4 & 4-3 has always had a hiccup & not sure why they didn't address it after the 17's.
You will learn minimize in manual & normal driving conditions with the throttle control & shift timing. |

Yes the harsh paddle 3-4 and 4-3 when cold is perhaps the A10's only flaw. My diagnosis is that when cold the trans shifts too fast and doesn't wait for the rev match.
The tail end of the rev match bump happens after the shift. It bucks the car like when you first learned how to drive a stick and let the clutch out too fast then gave it gas. It's a "normal" flaw present since day 1 with our cars. |

Once it's warmed up it isn't that bad. Know what you are talking about though and it does take a while to warm up.
