I hate to even say it; but my old 2008 335i accelerated so much better. My only mod is a K&N drop in filter. The insane lag on this car makes it unenjoyable for me. I have many difficulties going up hill roads, passing other cars, and to top it all off, I sometimes even floor it, and takes probably even 4 seconds flat to pass a same speed cruising car previously in front of me. Ive done a couple of 0-60’s here and there, the car has been reported many times to have low 4 second 0-60’s bone stock. Well, I have a K&N drop in filter and can’t even touch the 4’s. Keep getting high 5’s and low 6’s.
I’ve lost to bone stock Nissan Altima’s, V6 Mustangs, I4 and V6 Camaros, even a Maserati Ghibli
The worst thing is the car’s acceleration off of idle.
Anything to resolve the lag/acceleration? Because I’m disappointed in this car at the moment. After giving such a huge down payment too... :(

I honestly wish I could’ve afforded a ZL1, I’m most certainly sure the acceleration on them is amazing, noting its extra 195hp and torque, as well as the 1.9 blower on it.

Your car is broke. My car accells like a bat out of hell. I can spin my tires from a 15mph roll.

If it's running that slow makes me wonder if the ECU is using the low octane spark tables. Put the original air filter back in, pull the negative battery cable for 30 min and reset the ECU, make sure you are using premium fuel.

There is some throttle lag on these cars with the stock tune, but it's nothing like you describe. If you put the pedal to the floor in sport mode, it should down shift quickly to the right gear and roll out. I was pulling 4.2 0-60 stock and 3.5 0-60 with mild bolt-ons and e85 tuned.

There's definitely something wrong. These are low 12 sec cars. When passing cars on the freeway, these suckers fly. I am up, around and gone. I'm one of those who, when I pass...I pass with authority. From a dig you should be able to burn rubber thru the intersection. I'm at 5000' and a DA of 7000+ in the summer and I can spin the tires from a dig easily. and yes...I'm talking when I was stock.

If you bought used do this to make sure you really have a V8 and not a 6 banger with an SS front end clip. Confirm you really have a V8 if so take it to the dealer have have them check it.

I put the original back in so far, how do I disconnect the negative battery terminal, and how do I reset the ECU?

Disconnecting the battery resets the ECU. It's located in the trunk on the right side behind the removable panel.

The car was bone stock when I bought it, as the dealer specified, and I’ve done absolutely nothing but a crappy non beneficial K&N drop in filter.
I have driven many fast cars, many that run 10’s and a couple that run 9’s. I’ve had a couple crotch rockets too.

The rental base 1SS auto I had surprised the shit out of me the first time I launched it from a stop. Thing hauls the mail.

I was surprised it could only do 4.0 to 60, felt more like a 3.5.

So as other have said, your car definitely has something wrong with it
