gaveup, we all have our opinions/advice on what you should do but you are the one to make the decision considering your financial situation and what you really want to do!

Figure in insurance differences also.

However, I think the truth is they are going to get me on the trade and I would end up upside down before we even talk about the zl1. If that’s the case, it’s not worth it to me. Just thinking it can’t hurt to see what it will be. Worst case I just keep my car and start modding it. I think this car would be perfect with 500whp +, and it doesn’t seem like that’s too unrealistic of a goal to hit. |

Good thing you don’t live in Michigan. Even though insurance on my SS vert is ridiculous, insurance on a 2017 ZL1 vert was gonna be criminal. One of the reasons I don’t have one.

I’m in south Florida so I’m just going to take a guess and say it’s much more expensive to insure cars here

I never bothered to check the rate for a ZL1 coupe because I was only interested in a convertible.
The short story is that as I was planning my retirement, I decided I was going to buy myself a V8 convertible. That narrowed it down to SS, ZL1, Stingray, Grand Sport, and Z06 convertibles. I don't like the way Corvette convertibles look top up. Scratch Stingray, Grand Sport, and Z06. Insurance on the ZL1 vert was ri-f###ing-diculous.

I also have a SS 1LE and love the ZL1, but the much higher payment, coupled with the depreciation of my car, just isn't for me. With all that said, we are all in different financial situations so if you have the cash and can stomach the $ loss, then go for it you only live once. |

A little off topic but I was thinking of upgrading, as in 1le or zl1 or even a c8. I received a letter from my local dealership that said for my 2017 1ss, 20k miles and in mint condition, they would offer me $20 for it.....$20k?! I’ll drive it into the ground before that. I knew our cars depreciate bit Jesus, that’s ridiculous. So just food for thought.

i was only offered $32k yesterday for my 17 2SS M6 MSRP was $50k with 12500miles on it I was looking at a 18 ZL1 M6 with the only option pdr with 2600 miles on it. They wanted $57k for it. They said msrp on it was $67k BS PDR was the only option. I told them I found 4 other ZL1s for $52k with less then 10,000 miles on them. they said they paid more than that on the trade in.

You're going to take a bath in on the trade in of the 2019 unless you put a ton of money down on it. If you can take the financial hit then by all means get the ZL1.
Personally, I'd buy the ZL1 just to get rid of the 2019 front end. |
