PDR Not Recording

I can't for the life of me get the PDR on my 2019 ZL1LE to record. I've tried SD cards of the appropriate speed rating from 32 to 256GB, all formatted to FAT32, with no success. PDR recognizes the SD cards and shows me XXX minutes of recording available (6303 for the 256GB card—nice!), but when I actually attempt to start a recording the display only shows an elapsed time of 0:00:00 no matter how long I leave it running. Then after pressing stop recording, there is a file displayed listing a 1-minute duration, but nothing happens when I tap on the file to view it. It's as if the PDR is creating a file but not actually recording any video to it.

I did a fair amount of searching here and on the Corvette Forum before posting, but I couldn't find anyone else describing a similar issue. Most issues seem to be the PDR not recognizing the SD card at all because it's not formatted FAT32, but that's not the problem in this case. Figured I would check here to see if I'm missing anything obvious before taking the car into the dealership for troubleshooting.

Which software are you using to format the cards? Are you formatting them on the same device?

It sounds like you are doing everything right to start the recording. It is recognizing the card, otherwise it would not display the minutes of recording time available. Might have a defective PDR. Time for a dealership visit. Might just need a software update!

I would say try a 16GB or smaller card and see what it does. This will tell you if its actually working.

You're doing everything right so it could be a defective unit.

Thanks for the input, everyone. Sounds like it’s time for a trip to the dealership.

I had to get a 16GB to get it to work. Tried two larger sizes and it didn't work.

If it were award or formatting issue it would never acknowledge the SD card at all it would not allow you to start recording.

Camera would be my guess. Could be something as simple as camera not plugged in. The output to the screen and input from the camera is through an LVDS cable. If it is not getting video in I doubt it would record.

PDR is in the passenger footwell. Green, black and blue USB looks cables. The Blue is the screen. The green is the SD Card reader and the back is the input from the camera.

Seeing as he was able to get a 16GB card to work then it's has nothing to do with the camera. It has to be the formatting.

Have you used this program? This is the one I used, as well as others, with no issue. It'll only format to 64GB.

https://fat32-format.en.softonic.com/ The download link is above the "Rate it" then the next page it'll be the same link to actually download it.

This is a formatting issue. I used my mac and i was able to format mine exfat and it worked. Would not work when using the PC to format my 64gb card.

I have a 128GB micro SD card that I swap between my Rexing dash cam and my PDR and I made the mistake about 45 minutes before running a track day at Sebring of loading the micro SD card to my laptop and wiping the card clean and then formatting the card from scratch via the laptop and the PDR could not pick up the micro SD card no matter what regular SD card adapters I used.

I eventually put the micro SD card back into my Rexing dash cam and let the dash cam auto format the micro SD card and then once I put the micro SD card into its SD card adapter and into the PDR, the PDR picked up all 3150 minutes of available recording time from the micro SD card.

When did he say that? He never said he had it working. If 16 works then 32 does. Windows formats fat 32 up to 32.

Its not a formatting issue. If it sees the card its formatted correctly. It won't even go from greyed out if it isnt formatted correctly . He is saying it will allow him to do everything including start recording just wont ever record.

I disagree. OP could be corrupting the cards due to the 'formatting process' followed. The car will see the card and not be able to use the card. I am not stating that this is the actual problem, but we shouldn't rule it out as a possibility. Same as the possibility of a PDR issue that may need a dealer visit.
