There have been multiple drivers with documented 10's on stock tires, just FYI

Did the forums go down that far? I still have some RS parts to sell.

The regular ZL1 is much more comfortable than the RS in pretty much every way. I had an RS2 so IMO the seats were fine comfort-wise due to the lumber adjustments, if a bit high. The Recaros in the ZL1 are still more comfy though. Suspension the regular ZL1 is ***much*** better than the terrible dampers in the RS.

Not sure about fuel eco on the regular ZL1 but on the ZLE (ZL1 1LE) it's pretty much crap. Worse than my RS on R comps was. Fuel tank is much bigger though so range is still better.

Ventilated seats are nice. Heated seats/wheel are also nice when it gets colder (not a problem down here really).

The only thing you'll miss is the storage room. RS is great for that, Camaro sucks balls for that.

Careful what you wish for. Even with traction control on my car spins the 3R's on the street.. doesn't help with tire life.

FWIW regular ZL1 tires are $1,178 shipped per set from tirerack. ZL1 1LE tires are $1,4xx shipped. PS4's are more than the stock GY SC3's but should last a lot longer. I have a fresh set of the SC3's for my car so I haven't tried any other tires on the car yet.

1. I have had mine a month, 1k miles. It's actually one of the best DD's I've had. The power is usable and very linear in all conditions and is perfectly happy to be driven slowly or quickly. Overriding the steering and exhaust modes are perfect for DD customization.

2. Look at tires like the DWS06, They aren't ideal for the stock wheel sizes but you could do 19x10 rears or 20x10s and make them work. They are actually VERY good dry all seasons but definitely lower grip than the SC3 stock tires. They are good enough to get away in any condition where a true dedicated snow tire isn't needed.

3. Insurance. The rates on the Camaros is much higher than you'd expect. This is based on several friends all across the country

4. It's definitely more comfortable than your FoRS, seats and suspension are better. I hated the FoRS shocks and for street use the MRCs are 10x better.

Oh you had an RS too? Good cars, but the ZL1 seems to be on a different level.
I'm glad you mentioned fuel economy. What do you average when you are not stepping on it? That is actually another annoyance I have with the RS - the tank is so small that the low fuel light comes on at 1/4 tank and I have to fill up every 3 days. How many miles is the tank good for on average?

Thanks! Do you track your car? How many miles were you able to squeeze out of those tires so far?

2,3. Thank you for the tire suggestion - I will take a look. As for the insurance, I've already asked for a quote and it's pretty much identical to the FORS, so I am ok with that.

4. Yep. The suspension is the worst. I was considering changing the seats and the suspension, but I think I'd rather have the ZL1

Best ever was the first day I brought her home, driving 150+ miles straight shot at 55-65 mph on rural roads: 26mpg. So decent mileage is possible, but I've never been anywhere close to that since.

I average 15-16mpg in local street cruising, taking the wife to the beach, generally non-spirited to mild-spirited driving etc.

With spirited driving maybe 11 mpg.

YMMV.

My car gets around 17-18mpg at 70mph with cruise on - but that seems to be because of the tires and the shorter 6th gear in the 1LE version. From what I've read people get mid 20s on the highway, so figure low 20s average on a ZL1 M6 assuming a decent amount of highway cruise control mileage. Not sure about the A10 cars. So not much worse than the RS in my experience (I averaged 22 or so IIRC). Since my car isn't really used on the street that much I really have no idea how many miles I'd get to a tank but my old SS 1LE got 400ish I think. On the track I get basically 1.5 sessions out of a full tank of gas........ so 45 minutes or so.

I track the car more than I drive it on the street.

I'm on my second set of fronts with 1,970 miles on the car and 5 track days. Fronts lasted 4 track days.

However, the SC3 tires that were on my SS 1LE (and are on the regular ZL1) lasted quite a bit longer.. fronts died around 6,000 miles but that included 6 or 7 days I believe of track use.

One more thing to expect: Rock chips if you don't put PPF on the car.

That's not that far off from my Focus. I average 19 with half the power.

Wow, not bad. I average 19 on the RS, so this is good news. The ZL1 seems to be the winner in all categories.

Its hard to compare these cars IMO. One key aspect is track performance, which is what they were both designed for. In that category, both stock, the ZL1 and ZL1 1LE are in another category than the Focus RS. Same good driver, no mods, the ZL1 will beat the RS by 5+ seconds on any track. It truly is a supercar for 1/4 the price, so you have that to look forward to.
