I test drove a Vette last week. I noticed the gas door latch is from inside the car. Why Camaro not do it??

I do agree as an ex-friend tried to put sugar in my gas tank, police got his fingerprint though!

The EU model have the locking cap. As soon as you lock the car the fuel cap is also locked.

That's exactly how my '08 Pontiac G8GT is.

It amazes me to this day how a person could put diesel in a gas car. Different nozzle size, black vs green handle and of course the labels. It has to be pretty rare? I am curious as to the circumstances behind the mistake.

I remember my Dad showing me how to siphon gas out of my mom's 1970's Dodge Colt station wagon with some plastic tubing and a giant syringe, back in the day. That's the only reason I could see wanting a locking gas cap. Anyone wanting to put sugar in your tank would need a long funnel.

If you mistakenly put Diesle in your car, can you offset it by filling up with 87 given Diesle is technically considered very high octane?

Security cameras? Thats enough evidence for insurance to fix whatever damage gets done because you dont have a GARAGE.

Not to be argumentative, but both of the flaps in the filler neck are for vapor/emission control. There is a floating ball in the neck of the gas tank where the filler neck attaches, it serves mostly as check ball should the vehicle roll over and prevents gas from pouring out, but it also stops anything like a siphon hose from being able to enter the tank. FYI
I would've preferred for GM to put a release solenoid on the door, FWIW

I'm not worried about stuff in my gas tank, I'm worried about someone stealing the $250 carbon fiber inlay cover that just slides right off with one tab (awesome, thanks GM). I live in a safe community, but Seattle is just right across the bridge......

What I hear Seattle is nice this time of year. New cities within the city going up and everything :-)

It's almost impossible to do in the first place since the gun nozzle for diesel is thicker than gas, so you wouldn't even be able to fit it in the filler.

Diesel is actually low in octane numbers, something in the 10 to 20s range, since diesel engines pretty much run on preignitions(crude way of explaining it), so you want to fill up with high octane gas if you somehow make the mistake.

Now I am really currious. If the European versions have it, that means somwhere in GM's parts chain there are the components produced for the fuel door automatic locking system. I would like to at least see the schematic diagram to see if it's possible to add it to our cars without completely tearing everything apart.
