Billy Boat Exhaust vs Borla

Good day fellow enthusiasts. I am looking into a cat back exhaust for my 19 1SS 1LE. I want to keep the NPP feature. I first discovered the Borla S-Type and loved the sound. I recently came across the Billy Boat Exhaust. I love the sound as well. I've been doing some research on here and I know their presence in the camaro world is limited and they're big in the vette scene. I know a few of you have their exhaust. I saw one post where NPP feature was pretty much useless and it was like valves were open the entire time. Just curious if this is a continuous problem with all or a 1 off experience. If anyone has heard these side by side is there one that is louder than the other? Another concern I have is with the Billy Boat I know you have to get their front pipes to hook up to stock exhaust manifold. Does this delete the cat up front then? I'm ok with secondary cat delete but I live in CA and want to be somewhat respectful of the law, somewhat.... lol. I know Bill Boat has a wait time and I'm in no hurry. I dont mind spending the little bit extra either. Any and all insight would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all in advance!

Billy boat doesn't offer NPP so that narrows down your choice.

Are you sure? Did they discontinue it? The OP in this thread got an NPP Billy Boat exhaust. https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=530105

The threads I've read the NPP for Borla seemed to work but Billy Boat had issues.

That's what I read as well. Was hoping more would chime in. However after doing more research Billy Boat isn't CA CARB compliant so looks like Borla it is!

Give us a call when you get the Borla @ 610-628-1563 Option 1. We have some great forum member discounts on Borla.

I really like my Borla ATAK... and it doesn't drone. This is the NPP version.

Get the Borla. Either the ATAK or S-Type. Both are amazing.

I have their system, and it has a very nicely built NPP design. However, the difference in sound between open/closed is minimal. My assessment is that the diameter of the flap/disc is a little too small, compared to the ID of the exhaust pipe. This allows too much exhaust to escape while in the closed position.

Even with that being said, the volume while idling or driving easy is not overbearing, but it blasts some nice tunes when you get on it. I have not yet found a time when I wanted this exhaust to be quieter. It sounds THAT good. It sounds every bit of the $2500 they are asking, and you'll understand what I mean if you put it next to another Camaro with something like MBRP.

Buying from BBE wasn't super smooth, since my first system took something like 10 weeks to arrive, and then the mufflers had internal buzzing. They did warranty everything, but they are slow on production.

Regardless of any hiccups, I would buy this system again. It sounds too good, the tips are beautiful, and the rest of the welds/pipes are a work of art.
