I can see why some folks are saying it looks like Camaro in the rear. The resemblance to the 16-18 Camaro rear is definitely there. It also has some C7 elements as well.

I kinda figured it would look similar to C7 since when C7 started development, it was supposed to be mid engine. The current C7 look was supposedly very similar to what the mid engine C7 was going to look like.

Long hood, short rear...... yeah, what part of the C7 looks even remotely like a mid engine car?.... other than the tires?

For the record, GearheadSS is not wrong. The original ME design was revised for C7 being FE.

Well d@mn.... I never would have believed it if you hadn't said something.

Perhaps that is where the Ferrari influenced looks came from.
I think it is funny now people say it looks too much like something from Chevy, when I mistook it for a Ferrari California a few times.

Everything in reality started out as a dream. So many people grew up poor saying "I'm going to buy a Corvette some day" and then they do. That's essentially what the Corvette is. The supercar that you CAN reasonably attain. Just think in a few years these early C8s will be selling used for around 45-50k, most of them babied, garaged, and in pristine shape.

The C8 is a complete game changer. For the first time in history, there will be mid-engine supercars showing up in average, residential neighborhoods in front of average houses. I think its hilarious and uplifting at the same time.

"Hey Bob, hows the yard doing? Kids doing well? Oh hey, whats that mid-engine supercar doing in your garage?"

do not believe any of the sell pricing being flung around, no matter what they claim, this car will sell well over 70k for a base

i remember the c7 when it was introduced was claimed at 47k. But they were all marked up over 60

Not to start a debate thread, but i respectfully disagree. This car wont be affordable to the common man anymore. Retirees, older men yes, but not the common man (myself 73k a year salary) will never see one of these in a garage. Heck even the c7s are selling 45-55 used.

Fair enough, yea its pretty hard to afford a Corvette if you are a younger working man. I may have taken some liberty with the scenario of a guy with kids having a C8 in the garage. But, consider this:

An article from jalopnik...someone in the comments compared the real inflation adjusted cost of Corvettes, to household median income in current dollars, and then determined how many "years of income" people needed to purchase a corvette:

https://jalopnik.com/the-corvette-is...-30-1783232862

1956 ~$25,600 / ~$11,000 = 2.33 years per ‘Vette
1966: ~$30,300 / $14,600 = 2.08 years per ‘Vette
1976: ~$32,400 / $19,000 = 1.71 years per ‘Vette
1986: ~$58,500 / $23,600 = 2.48 years per ‘Vette
1996: ~$57,400 / $27,800 = 2.06 years per ‘Vette
2006: ~$52,500 / $35,500 = 1.48 years per ‘Vette
2016: ~$55,400 / $38,700 = 1.43 years per ‘Vette

So even if the C8 costs slightly more than the C7, it is still far more affordable than the C1-4 cars ever were.

$58k for a Vette in 1986? That's highway robbery.

A long hood short deck makes a Corvette. Short hood long deck does not make a Vette.

My guess is sticker of around 60k for the base. A hefty price increase on the c8 would directly effect the sales volume for the platform. Considering the addition of a 2nd production shift to the Corvette Factory in Bowling Green, as well as doubling the size of the factory to accommodate a 2nd production line, I have a feeling that GM plans on selling a lot of the new Corvettes.

Although if they follow Apples pricing trends, they would shift production to mexico and double the base price to 110k.

I hate to break it to ya...... but your salary is not a "common man" salary...... it maybe a comman Corvette owner salary, but it is much better than the "common man" in the US.
