Necessary to upgrade rods and pistons or no?
I have a fbo SS.. headers, CAI, ported throttle body, ported intake manifold, e85.. i'm also running 100 shot... I want to get get cammed and port my stock heads.. i'm trying to determine if while doing that, would it be necessary to upgrade the pistons and/or rods?
These are all estimations, but I estimate my car is around 475rwhp fbo on e85. 575 on 100 shot. Cammed, would put it around maybe 600. Ported heads 630. Would it be necessary to do forged pistons and rods at anything under 700? Is it worth the money if I don't plan on going over 750hp? |

No, you don’t need forged pistons at your current or intended power levels. Keep the fueling safe and you will typically be fine.
