If it doesn't provide a return on invested capital and expense, it's gone. Period. That's what happened before and although I appreciate your confidence, there is nothing that assures it won't happen again. The only thing keeping the Camaro around now is the shared architecture and assembly plant. If it was a standalone like the Gen4 it would likely be gone by now. The number of programs I've worked on where sales volumes were way over estimated would astound you. And I'm pretty sure Camaro plans didn't include selling at Corvette volumes. That being said, I do hope you are correct. But they will have to stabilize sales first. Oh facts and details. Can't be troubled with those.

According to this video, the LT2 will most likely be a pushrod engine so not all hope is lost!

Unfortunately GM values this far less than Ford or Fiatsler. But they do put some value in it. |

This really is true. For the last 9 years i've owned a bmw before buying the camaro. And before the bmw, i briefly had a c6. While i had the bmw, i steered a family member into a cruze, and we're on our second traverse. All bought at the same dealer i bought the c6. We really like the dealer, but i think the good feelings from owning the c6 contributed too. Enthusiast reputations for a brand do matter. |

This is to keep costs down for the C8 launch. They don't want to scare everybody with a high price at launch. The Z06 gets the DOHC twin-turbo V8. ZR1 adds electric motors in front for around 1000hp total.

EV's are the future, simple as that. I challenge anybody to go and drive a Chevy Bolt and say it isn't a great commuter car. Quiet, quick, no gas, no oil changes and no stupid mods to further chew up your money. The dashboard is hideous though and for some reason they still have manual seats on the loaded version. Then keep the Camaro for a weekend car.
Further looking at GM if the Silverado gets outsold by RAM well that is horrible. I think some of that is they had so many leftover 18's at bargain basement prices that takes away a lot of '19 Silverado sales. Then the HD Chevy is really polarizing. One thing GM has going for it is the Colorado and Canyon. They are all over the place and I have only seen just one Ranger. Ford is trying to grab into the Jeep market with the Explorer where GM got into the Toyota Tacoma small truck segment. Where I live in NJ people just don't buy too much GM products and GM better get their EV's out quickly because everybody else is getting theirs out. GM simply needs a reliable, electric EV SUV line and they would probably sell like crazy. In general sports cars have been in a massive decline and that trend will likely continue. Darned shame too if you think of the 6th Gen besides its rear seat, trunk and visibility issues it is a superb performer. Think of how many tries it took Ford to get to 1LE, PP1, PP2 and they still can't take it. |

The Bolt probably wouldn't have power seats as that draws on the battery - like the heat does. It's more efficient to use the seat heater in the winter than passenger cabin heat.

I haven't seen anyone mention of this, but what does the shelving of the Camaro mean for Chevy's presence in NASCAR? Does it signal the exit of Chevy from the series? Once the Camaro is gone what vehicle will be used to represent the brand? Can't imagine an Equinox or Traverse SUV racing at Daytona. I don't think NASCAR is close to switching over to EV race cars. If Chevy leaves, does Dodge jump back into the series with the Challenger? Lots of questions to be answered.

NASCAR has been discussing and planning what thejr next-gen racecars will be like, and they’re basically trying to allow much more similarities between production cars and their stock car counterparts. They’re open to adding more manufacturers like Dodge and Honda, but they’re also open to new, more relevant powertrains. NASCAR now limits cars to under 600hp for almost every race, so any powertrain imaginable will work for what they want. They also want to make the bodies of the cars more similar to production cars, so an aerodynamic car like the Malibu would work well. |

Automobile Magazine is claiming that the next-gen Mustang will share its underpinnings with the Explorer/Aviator, and be about the same size as the current Challenger. https://www.automobilemag.com/news/n...-on-sale-info/ |
