While they're worried about the fuel economy on low volume sports cars, this is what trucks will look like in 2023:

First off, one of the biggest reasons for a Camaro failure is Chevy itself. They have not responded quickly to the changes other car companies have done to their muscle car. Ford increased their power output in 2018 and the Challenger has all kinds of trims to pick from. Chevy had a new face that very few liked.
It is also important to note that they all have dropped in sales year after year, but the Camaro has had to roughest drop in 2018. The Challenger has being the only one consistent year after year since 2015. They have not dropped or gained. Believe it or not, big horsepower sell. The reputation of being fast at the track does not make you king in the streets and that is how many buyers think. They want to create fear in others when they park next to them at a red light. Oh, yeah, I think no one mentioned that before, but the Camaro visibility sucks in tight spaces. http://motrolix.com/automotive-sales...ge-challenger/

They will all die a slow death. I wasn’t around during the gas crisis of the seventies but my dad would often talk about how quickly the muscle cars were eliminated for more fuel efficient models in the mid seventies. I see that cycle starting again. As electric cars are becoming more unbeatable and heavily congested cities are more restrictive towards personal vehicles the modern muscle car era will be over soon.

Everyone is forgetting about China. Cadillac sedans sell like hot cakes there which justifies the investment. Camaro does not sell in China

But you can also get an SS for mid 30s. All cars are more expensive today. A base Civic is 23 grand. I hope these rumors aren't true. The sales, when compared to the other 2 are a little lower but still not bad for a high performance 2+2 coupe. I mean FFS toyota is keeping the 86 alive and in don't see a point to that car at all.

Yep, saw this coming from a mile away. GM don't make slow selling vehicles more competitive, they cut and run instead. Weak and pathetic.

The refresh, combined with interior room combined with the visibility is what killed sales IMO. So now if you want a performance car from GM, the only choice is a Corvette...

That is true about china, I am not sure are Cadillac's for China built in Lansing then exported? I know some of the CT6 are built in China

It's not cancelled, just delayed. The platform is there, they will get the CT4 and CT5 out there first. GM has its hands in many projects right now. C8 corvette is taking a large amount of resources--thats people in GM who do performance cars. Once that is out for a couple years, and demand for a next gen camaro grows, suddenly it will be back on the table, I predict around 2023-2024.
The only thing I take from all this is, find the 6th gen you really like now, because you're going to be driving it for a while! I guess none of this really worries me that much, because I really like my 6th gen. If I was going to upgrade to a 7th gen, I would like to see them take their time and get it right. I also feel like we don't know this "source" at all, and none of it is even close to official. If these "rumors" spread like wild fire, as it appears they are, I expect to see a GM announcement very soon on this. |

As long as the engineers and scientists can't make the battery technology much better, I can't see any reason to get an EV. Not everyone only drives 30 to 50 miles a day. Too much time spent recharging. I'm about 900 miles from CamaroFest and an electric would probably take me 3 days to get there instead of 1 1/2. Of course, I would be embarrassed to go there in an electric Camaro.
