Keep in mind you're comparing a tuned car vs a stock one. and Camaro Z's are known for being very slouchy when stock... That being said you still havent maxed out the C7 where it really shines E85.... its a whole different ball game on the LT1.... HP doesnt mean anything... like you said they feel faster but really its that they are quicker. I was always infront of a a ZLE on my SS1LE when FBO E85 to 120-125MPH depending on the roll (obviously me on a tire) so they always had to play the catch up game.

IMO I would get rid of the SS 1LE only because you already have a GS.... So if you have to have 2 cars I'd cam the GS and get a normal ZL1 fbo e85 mix and you're looking at 750-800whp range that THAT is a fun car to have for any "big boy" type of racing while the GS will still be a monster in every type of racing you throw at it.

I agree with him. If you are getting rid of one car trade up the SS1LE and keep the GS.

The real answer here is to ditch the ss 1le and replace it with the ZLE

ZLE and GS are very close performance wise stock- The ZLE will be faster on most road courses with competent driver. ALthough subjective, GS looks better

Bolt ons make the GS a monster
Bolt ons make the ZLE less reliable and a heat sponge that takes some of the fun out of its formidable track prowess

Im coming from road course standpoints, most of it is moot for autox- Hell I ran my 775whp c6zr1 at autox for fun...and it was the most fun I ever had autoxing

Yeah before doing a cam (I need to be prepared for the amount of work) I'm planning to buy a flex sensor from dsx and do my E85 tune...Also my MSD is not ported. I'm also thinking about heads since it is pretty easy to do...should be close to 500WHP with that…458WHP on a Mustang right now with my homemade tuning (i tune myself)

Buying a ZLE as a daily would be too expensive IMO....

Hence why he would be trading the GS and not the SS1LE. His budget probably only allows for one more expensive car alongside the SS1LE and not enough to pay for both a GS and a ZLE.

I could see a 1LE 4 cyl for a daily if I had any kind of commute.

What I wanna know is... Is it worth it trading in a SS 1LE for a C7 GS? Something I've been debating on lately doing next year.

Thumbs up

I would keep the C7 Corvette Grand Sport and the 6th gen Camaro SS1LE or maybe upgrade the SS1LE for a ZL1 (non 1LE), but keep the GS, both are amazing cars

I liked it a lot, some remarks :

- So close to an SS 1LE ! The whole feeling of the car is so close. Shifter, brakes steering, all the same
- Did not feel a lot faster than the SS 1LE...(up to 80 mph). Gearing is really good though, good shove of torque in 4-5-6. I was disapointed by the 2nd gear pull (I waited to have the oil at 200F and limited the rpm to 5500 by respect to the future owner). My 460WHP C7 GS feels faster on a 2nd gear pull... I was ready for a big hammering pull and it was not there.
- Handling is really good. Precise turn in, some roll but not a lot. Very firm suspension but it doesn't bother me.
- Braking seems good but not to C7 levels

I don't think it is worth an upgrade from a C7 GS, even from a SS 1LE...in my point of view. I wish I could try one on a track or a mountain road though...my test drive was 20min long only and on fairly smooth roads...
Everybody needs a camaro and a vette in their garage. Your set up is insane, the GS is a dream and you can take top off when you want to enjoy some good country roads. I have a gen older set up than you..... 5th gen 1LE gutted for track duty only and a 2009 z06. Such different cars and you get to enjoy both. Dream garage you got man. I just need a V series in mine and am done....

I would stay with an Alpha platform all the way.

The C7 GS Vette is a beautiful looking car and drives well on the track, however, it is to my belief not as "complete" of a package as the Alpha platform vehicles are: CTS, ATS and Camaro.

Unfortunately, the Vette's platform is still the 80s' Y-Body and (almost) no matter how many things you "patch" around it, including suspension, tires and steering parts, it still remains an old infrastructure, that is now finally going to be replaced in the C8

I always thought the C6 was the pinnacle of the Y platform as the C7 took on too much weight.
