Yeah Memphis, I remember those years of the Trans Am very well! After Smokey and the Bandit movie came out, everyone seemed to want a Bandit car! I was in college at the time and couldn’t afford one even if I wanted to buy one as I was driving a 1974 Chevy Vega and didn’t have any money at the time!

They look really sweet coming up behind you on the highway. I saw one on a pretty much empty road behind me about 3 or 4 miles back, and let it slowly creep up just to see what it was, it looked so bad ass I thought it was some sort of exotic car or something before it got close enough for me to see it was a Camaro.

I like the ‘19 SS looks better all around than the ‘16-18. The rear looks badazz. And I iike the big bar across the front and the lower grill. It’s like it’s wrapping a nice package. I

In fact Pontiac couldn’t build them fast enough to meet demand. I was 13 around that time my dad bought a new 1975 Trans Am so I was always reading up on the new models as they came out and what changes, I don’t recall a big backlash when it was released.

Also No one should have to buy the revised front end 2020 to have an option about the current one. If someone don’t like my 2017 I don’t expect them to buy a 2019 just to prove a point. Everyone has different taste..JMHO

I won’t even talk about how many times I saw Smokey and the Bandit as a kid..LOL
Point is, once they got out the new look caught on. The movie helped too. If there would have been Internet forums, that car would have been rip by the “I like the old front better” crowd.

If your not a buyer, an opinion is all you’ve got. I’ve seen guys with nothing more than an opinion crap guys that laid down their cash to buy a 2019.

I saw Smokey and the Bandit four or five times at the theater when I was a kid. My second car, that I owned 27 years, was the car the lead to the 77 Bandit TA. The 1976, Y82 50th anniversary with 455, 4-speed.

Those Trans Am were so expensive in the day too hotlap! Nice 1976 4 speed TA and rare too with the manual trans!

My local dealership had a 2016 V6 on the lot for 9 months before it sold. They sold out all of their 2019s a few weeks after they showed up. (It's on the way to work so I see it 5 days a week).

Just going by empirical evidence in my little area, people were indifferent to the 16-18 and are jumping on the 19 models.

This is what my LT1 will look like if they get the pricing right:

Thanks! Y82, 455, 4-speed was 1 of 110 built.

That car was my life for a long time. I spent years collecting NOS parts and then doing a subframe off restoration. I gutted it to a shell and built it back up.

Sorry for the thread jack. Nothing but love for the 19 from me.

the 2019 looks fantastic in dark colors, in light colors not as much ...... I just seen a 2019 SS convertible in blue and it looked killer on the road, the new LED running lights look amazing..I actually like the 2019 better then the 2020, at least its true to its design and not a bandaid fix

I like the 2019 SS front. Blacking out the bow tie on dark colors makes it look sinister. I loved the LT front from the second I saw it.

Any 2019 owners that get crap about their car on this forum should ask the offender to post pictures of thier 2020.

Exactly. I see the 2020 as going backwards but time will tell. There are some who hate change and when that change is considered drastic they really hate it. If I see a 2020 on the road, nose to nose, I wont be able to tell it apart from a 2016 until I see the tail-lights with the exception of lighting on the front end.

Seems to me they are about to sell a 2018 with a 10 speed Auto.

Either way, fine by me. If I own a car that was only in production for a year, I figure it might be in demand, or at least considered rare.

At the end of the day it only matters to the guy with the keys, or a potential buyer.

ya but putting the bowtie in the grill makes it look just fine. not as good as the 18s but good enough for a refresh.

That grill is just ugly. Looks like a black Blue Whale.
