2019 2ss upgrades or zl1

This section have a lot of information for the forced induction especially being that's what I am looking into for my 2019 ss in the next couple of years. The reason for my topic is that will I get the same effect in power like the zl1 from adding the supercharger or procharger? and is it worth it or better to trade up? What I'm seeing from some other post from youtube, is that internal work also have to be done for the charger to work.

the question always is are you going to buy a zl1 and keep it stock or mod it? lol

It should be a little faster and it won't need any internal work if you stay safe at or below 650RWHP (give or take).

Look at the fast list. Most ZL1s run avg 11.3 - 11.6. Even with DR's they avg 11.2 or so. some a little faster, some slower. Only 1 broke into the 10's on just a tire and that was a 10.98 (according to the fast list).

ZL1 does offer stronger shafts (all of them) and diff. The 1le offers the stronger diff, no clue about the shafts. At some point you will need three shafts and a stronger diff. There is one guy pining his ring gear to LSD (the are welded). I won't say this is a problem area as you need HP AND Hook to have this "problem".

Also upto say 700 WHP, the higher comp and larger cam in the LT1, offers more power per any type of FI.... after that you are changing cam and pistons (LT1) anyway.

Awesome thanks. Everything makes sense. If I do get the zl1, I wouldn’t do anything performance wise to it. I believe it maybe cheaper to go with some upgrades.

I would say 650-680whp is the sweet spot for the LT1 engine before you enter a different level of cost to go faster. 10k can get you that power level if you buy right and you would be faster then a stock ZL1 easily. The next level of mods, cam/valve train, piston, and rods would take the total investment up into the ZL1 price range or even exceed it.

ZL1's can get close to 700whp with bolt-ons before they get expensive to mod. Usually past that it's cam, fuel system, and blower upgrade. Most shops charge 20k+ for that package. LT4 doesn't need rod and piston upgrades, also with lower CR it will tolerate 93 octane better.

As mentioned previously the ZL1 also has beefier suspension and drive line components. All though the stock SS stuff will handle up to 700whp unless you are dead hooking the car, then rear axles and drive shaft upgrades would be a wise investment.

A 1SS with supercharger and fuel system to support 650whp is going to be 48K unless you bought right and got one either new or CPO for 31k range. I am around 42k all in with mine and it has Npp/leather/Whipple/Cai/Fuel system/LT5 tb/Cat deletes/axleback.

2SS with the same mods will easily put you into the price range of a stock ZL1.

So imo a discounted 1SS is the only option that makes sense to consider over a ZL1 if your choices are SS with a Supercharger or stock ZL1 and your primary concern is bang vs buck.

KingLT1, thanks. That’s exactly what I was looking for. I have the 19 2SS with the color I wanted and everything, I was just thinking about making it mines which mean some upgrades to different from others. I guess I will take my time. What do y’all suggest is a good place to start and where do y’all shop at?

The stock ZL-1s are making 540-560 RWHP

The LT-1 with just a supercharger kit are making similar power for a lot less money all total.

Jannettyracing my main concern is if adding a super or pro charger mechanical safe without internal upgrades. Also how much can a custom tune pull out of the 6.2?

I routinely run the stock long block at 750 RWHP with no issues, it is all in the set up, Fuel quality and tuning.

As I stated the fuel system will be the biggest limiter of power.

Stock fuel system will support 560-570 RWHP safely on 93 octane.

There is a right way and wrong way to make additional power and the wrong way is what leads to engine failure.

Ted.
