Sounds normal I traced mine down to the fuel pump area with a stethoscope. Sometimes it’s loud sometimes I hardly hear it. Maybe different fuels has some sort of effect. Got BP 93 oct in there now and it’s totally quiet.

The dealer told me the same thing about my car a week ago. Was the ticking on your car on any particular side? Mine is mostly from the passenger side. It’s not super loud and mostly noticeable in the garage.

I can hear it from the driver side near the fuel line and it also travels toward the front passenger side just under the engine cover. If you look under there you’ll see the sound dampening material that is just beneath the intake manifold that is an indication that the system is noisy. I thought about putting some additional sound absorbing material near where I hear the sound but it’s good now.

Dealer told me not to worry until check engine light comes on

Edit: just read it only does it when your car is hot, opposite for me
Have this as well on cold start up, does it then stop and does it again while it’s cold. Any recent update on it? Would appreciate it to kill my paranoia

All these motors are noisy, especially running inside a tight garage trying to hear something.

Nothing came of that tick on mine, still happens, hasn't gotten worse, but my oil pump may have just failed (at the dealer now for 0 psi of oil pressure). Glad I left it stock.

I've got a running thread on that as well.

I thought the fuel pump was in the gas tank on these cars.

They have 2 fuel pumps. One is under the intake manifold and one is in the tank.

My car is currently at the dealership with failed lifters. It has been there three weeks because they say head gaskets are on national backorder. No word yet on cause. I started it and drove to the grocery and the loud ticking started. 52,000 miles.

Did any lights come on in the cab?

Use stethoscope or big screw driver and check out 2 pleases.

1- The fuel line, exactly when the fuel line go to the engine, driver side, here there is fuel check valve , it makes tick.
2- EVAP valve, it’s beside throttle body, BMW cars have tick sound comes from it.

I think in the video up , tick comes from the fuel line, because it’s louder in the driver side
