Well, I tried...
A week or so ago, I made a post about struggling with modding my car, or keeping it stock to possibly preserve the value years down the road.
At any rate, I decided to mod it pretty soon after that thread. When I decide on something, I like to get it done asap. That's where I quickly learned that it appears the local guys here are only interested in doing enough work cover their bills I guess. I went to two local shops, left all my info and what I was looking to have done. Neither one even had the decency to call me back. I guess they don't want the work? I've been toying with just doing it myself, but I probably shouldn't. It just pisses me off that in this day and age, you can't get people to do shit. I don't understand how people can run a successful business by not returning calls and blowing off potential customers. That seems to be a trend with virtually every business out there today that is owner/operated. Sorry for the rant, but I figured some of you guys here could appreciate this issue. I guess on the bright side, I'll save myself a few thousand bucks. |

What was it you were trying to have done, if I may ask?

The headers and lowering springs are easy and can be done with simple tools. You should do those yourself. The cam and supporting mods though, are going to be more involved and will require several specific tools such as a pushrod length checking tool and spring compressing tool. If you're doing the oil pump, look into the Katech C5R timing chain and CHE trunnion upgrade. GPIs cam kit comes with the LS2 dogbone style dampener already and your choice of lifters. They are top notch, and did my build. GPI ftw!

You'll also need a specific puller/installer for the balancer too.
Try and find a Z28 CAI and a set of Bilstien B6 shocks and struts. 35mm hollow DSE bar or a 32 mm JPS solid rear bar and a 1LE front bar, solid cradle bushings, Z28 UCA bushings for the rear, and your favorite brand of rear control arms/links.

ASC race spec splitter and wicker. 6th Gen M017 Wheels. Stainless Works 1 7/8 LTs. DSE and PAFDT Suspension components. |

Can someone find the closest LS performance shop to this guy? I would not attempt a cam install on my own. That’s just me. OP how much mechanical expertise do you have? I had my local brake and muffler shop do my headers and exhaust. Awesome shop and I have a great rapport with the lead mechanic. I then drove 7 hours to a major performance shop to have the cam done right. I have no mechanical expertise. I’m a nurse

You should give Jared Cocanougher a call. Google is showing this as his business phone number: (888) 427-7249. I've not used this number before. So, if you don't have any luck, PM me and I'll give you his personal cell number. Just not sure he'd want his personal phone number posted. Jared works in sales for Brian Tooley and runs his own speed shop called Race Proven Performance in Harrodsburg, less than an hour from Lex. He can help you spec out whatever you're looking for; whether you buy it from Brian Tooley or not. His speed shop specializes in all things Camaro and Corvette. I've uploaded/attached an image of the inside of his shop (not sure where it'll show up at). These guys leave and breathe LS stuff. Jared is also an avid racer and has plenty of videos online. A cam upgrade to these guys is just another day at work. His shop works with James Short and Shortuning, about 30 minutes from Jared's shop. James is an exceptional tuner and specializes in the LS platform. He's so busy, you can only expect to contact him by email and it might take a day or two to get a reply. But it's worth it. Info@ShorTuning.com I'm delivering my car to Jared this Friday for a stage 3 cam upgrade (plus all the extras that go with that) and will have it back down to James for the tune on the 26th. If you go to Shortuning, he has a Dyno Dynamics dyno. And trust me, it's a heart breaker. It's a good dyno for tuning purposes, but the numbers are low. I did a baseline at James' shop to compare to the after cam dyno tune. I can let you know how everything goes on the 27th. Let me know if you need anything. I'm only about 20 minutes from Lexington. Seems to be several in Cincinnati. That’s 75 miles. RDP (DynoSteve) in northern Ohio. 360 miles. Can’t really vouch for any of them though.
