The Scatpack is a great car. I have had both a Challenger and a Charger Scat. As far as performance goes, it is pretty much a drivers race between the two. I think you get a little more for your money in the way of overall options with the Camaro when it is in 2ss trim. The Camaro 2SS has everything from memory seats and heads up display to a wireless charging pad. As far as reliability goes, just going from my experience, the Dodge wins hands down. My Challenger Scat with the 8 speed never gave one problem. No torque converter shudder, no strange groans and moans etc.. As I type this, my Camaro is back in the shop for what sounds to me like the rear diff groan! I have already had the shudder too.

They're all so close acceleration wise it really comes down to the driver and the launch.
I agree, they're close enough that it comes down to the driver, in a straight line. Take them through curves and the Challenger and Charger in any configuration can't hang with an SS, let alone an SS 1LE.

Stock vs Stock they are close, but for modding the Camaro pulls away. Once you put a LT1 on E85 and feed it the timing it needs to reach MBT, It's making more HP then a 6.4 hemi in a car that is 600lbs lighter. 93 octane is bare minimal for a LT1 with it's high compression.

But now they are outmatched. They are fast, but it isn't even a driver's race at this point. The Hellcat tho, that is a different animal indeed. They are selling for very low prices right now, they are very roomy, they are comfortable especially for long trips, they are extremely mind blowingly fast, and simple upgrades like a tune and pulley puts you well over 700 RWHP and for only about $3K. Plus you will feel the weight in a 392. The Hellcat is soo powerful that you won't even notice how heavy the car is. It is simply a no brainer. After owning one, I honestly would not even consider anything less. I'd say shop for a used 17 up if possible. Otherwise a 16 will do just fine as long as the stock blower has been replaced by FCA.

No doubt the HC would be an absolute blast and I have looked at them price wise. The biggest shocker was how much my insurance would go up on one of those. I have a spotless driving record and my insurance premium would be an additional $140 a month to replace the SS. So likely a much higher car loan payment and then you tack on another $140 for insurance and it's a tough pill to swallow. At least for me.

You might consider a different insurance company. I'm paying $110 a month with a $150 deductible and two speeding tickets on my record, one of which was a super speeder 35 mph over the limit.

If you're eligible for USAA try it out. With their discount I'm about to replace my supercar tires for $870 plus tax.

Ahh yeah the USAA I hear makes a night and day difference on insurance. However I am not eligible.

I have gotten quotes from a few other places and they are quite a bit more than Geico. Perhaps the state and location you're in is a contributing factor as well.

Probably does have something to do with location! Those 4 years I put in 30+ years ago continue to pay dividends!
