Header question

Has anyone used texas speed headers. They seem like a bargain price wise vs kooks, or American racing.

I have them on my 18, quality and fitment was good especially for the price. I do not have any complaints about them so far.

I know a few SS guys with them and they have no complaints. I myself planned on getting a set but I'm still not sure what direction I'm going with this car. If I do decide to keep and modify it then I will go with TSP.

I was going to use them as I’ve heard good things and the price could not be beat, but after I factor in $650 for the headers and off road pipes plus $300 for ceramic coating I’d be at $950. Still a good deal but there are sales now on Kooks headers and ceramic coating so I went that route for $1200. I figured it was $250 more but there would be a qorry free fit.

I heard the TSP 1 7/8” fit great but the 2” may need some clearance at the steering joint.

The 2" is where some start seeing issues. I had those issues in my SS - and had to bend/hammer them a bit.

I was just looking at those yesterday. I am unsure about headers and the "street legal" issue. Seems like most are race/offroad only so I really don't know which ones to buy. I would like to get a full system and keep the NPP and get rid of the flattened pipes in the back

Many aftermarket headers provide that disclaimer - it is just a legal shield. However, some states have laws/regulations on noise levels, and on deleting the cats.

I was kind of wondering that is that GM says that ARH is the GM Official Header but yet they all say off road. I see the Green Cats on Kooks so to me that would make it legal for emissions. I have not modified any exhausts for a long time.

If by Grapevine you mean So. Cal. unless you have CARB-compliant exemption numbers on your cats and headers, you will not pass a visual. Kook's green cats' are not 50-state compliant last I heard. Even if you find aftermarket CARB-legal cats', you still won't find CARB-legal long tubes. The stock manifolds flow reasonably well, but they still aren't headers...

I finally found the sound that I like and I think beats the GT350R sound. It is at the end with ZL1 and red wheels.

Sounds like he put a cam in it...
