Manual steering wheel on an automatic - possible??

Hey guys, new here. Hoping to pick up 2017 Camaro 2SS this coming week and have been doing some research on mods. Really love the suede wheels from ZL1's. Seems like there are more manuals than autos in the used wheel market. But I thought I read somewhere that the manual cars with the rev match paddles will still function like auto paddles if installed on an auto car. Can anyone confirm??
Thanks

Why don’t you look for a used ZL1 steering wheel for an automatic? It would be a lot easier instead of what you are wanting to do. Check the classified section of this forum and you might find some from members trying to sell one.

Don't assume you'll like the fake suede wheel. There are entire threads full of people swapping those out for the leather ones. I've driven both and much prefer the leather. To me the suede feels like putting your hands on cardboard.

I have looked and seem to find more manuals which is what every SS 1LE is. It's rarer to find a ZL1 auto.

Protovack - thanks for the input. I will have to drive one first and see how I like it.

Check on gen5diy.com for steering wheels. Ofer is a vendor on the forum here that sells parts for our Camaros and has a vast knowledge making the factory parts work to upgrade the different models.

To answer your original question, yes a manual steering wheel will work just fine. Only difference in the paddles is what text is printed on them.

This is a very interesting statement. Considering that in MY 2017 and 2018, GM sold nearly 4x as many A10 ZL1 than manual.

You can send you stock steering wheel to these guys. It look like it came from the factory when you get it back. https://craftcustoms.com/

GM actually has a TSB out because they accidentally were putting Auto steering wheels on manual cars, so I am guessing it isn't a big technological leap to put a manual wheel on a auto

Yea I think they are interchangeable. I just picked up a manual ZL1 wheel for $188 shipped. Should be here Monday.

It's the same wheel, you can get the different paddles with different text printed on them
