Was the water above your tail pipes? Similar to the banana in a tailpipe?
Some of you might not be old enough to know what movie that came from. LOL |

Yep. Once water is high enough to enter the interior of the car from the bottom, that is typically the point at which it is considered totaled. But again, your insurance agency will make that call. Even if there are no issues now, the car might be a lemon from now on might spend a lot of time in the shop troubleshooting random quirks. Many insurers don't think it's worth the risk.

Texas has some pretty large feral hogs. Last year someone rolled a Suburban end over end when they hit a hog on the toll road where the speed limit is 80. And 85 in some sections. They walked away.

I love TX130 ... such a liberating highway. But... I never knew we had hogs like that. Are they all over the state or just certain areas?

Aside from the pigs, you also have to watch for the retarded deer out on 130. If one WERE to be so inclined as to do some late night throttle therapy out there, the deer are a definite hazard... just saying.

Didn't pull any codes. The CEL was on but there were no other abnormal indications/messages.All of the electrical systems seemed to be functioning normally. I pulled the lid off the air box and saw that water was for sure ingested into the engine. Also when it was being pulled on to the wrecker water came out from the exhaust. I took it to a very large well respected chevy dealership that deals with hundreds if not thousands of flood claims per year. I went and looked it over with the service manager who has been doing this for 24 years. He believes they'll buy a new engine, pull out the carpet, dry it, treat it, and replace the insulation underneath it. He was surprised to see that none of the electrical systems were malfunctioning and thinks I may have gotten lucky. Also said that theres a 99% chance they'll fix it based on what its worth and the likely cost of repairs. 1500$ of interior work and around 10k for a new engine. I hope he's right.
