The unthinkable has happened (again)

So I'm on my second SS1LE, the first one was killed when I hit a hog at a high rate of speed. I'm hoping that my incident tonight doesn't kill this one. It was raining its ass off here in Houston tonight and I was driving home from work when I came upon an area of road that never floods. Before I realized it,
it was too late and the car died. The water wasn't half way up the front wheels and it didn't make it over the door jams into the car but some did manage to leak up from the bottom under the seats. I foolishly tried to turn it over a few times with no luck, does this sound totaled? water definitely wasn't deep enough to get into the intake box or any of the computers. anything I can do in the mean time to help ensure its survival?

What do you mean? it doesn't crank over at all? no power at all? does it make any sound? do you have any errors on the dash?

I'd take some plugs out and turn it over and see if water comes out. did you open up the airbox to see if water got in there?

Your wiring harnesses are toast. Your insurance will be the ones to decide of it's a write-off. People on these forums have gotten their cars declared totaled for similar things. Even if it dries out, the car can likely have sporadic issues indefinitely.

In the AM I'll go back and check the oil, airbox and pull the plugs. I still have hope because it couldn't have been much water.

The wiring harnesses are in between the carpet and the floorpan? There literally was no standing water inside the cabin just a little leak through from below to make the lowest portions of the carpet wet.

In Houston too, it's still going hard and will keep going for a few days. Stay safe.

Sorry for what happened, but for my own curiosity, by a "hog" do you mean a motorcycle or the animal?

I wouldn't want a car back that has had water damage like that.

Have you thought about an armored SUV or maybe a tank as your next vehicle? I'm just messing around. That sucks man, but that's what insurance is there for. Best of luck!
