I just got the new 2019 fix along with the new revised torque converter, and so far so good. After several service bullitens on this issue I'm not holding my breath

Short of tuning your TCM no. The longer you go with the issue the worse it can get it's the frequency of the issue that is the factor.

They didn't not say what exactly is wrong except it's either going to need to be rebuilt or replaced all together .. 5k in costs

Damn sorry to hear that. This has always been a fear of mine...tuning the car then being denied warranty work. Of course they are going to say that though... |

So after a 71 minute phone call with GM ....Senior Advisor have been assigned after the question of "How can you guys PROVE that the calibration history caused the transmission to break?" and after I called the dude on the phone a F***ing moron because he tried to tell me there was 0 service bulletins for the 8L45 and 8L90

I wouldn't just pay a 5K bill without deep, insightful explanation of what needs repaired. Converter? Clutch destruction? Housing damage? Bearing failure? WTF? Also, in the absence of root cause, what warranty do you have that it wont go boom the day you drive it home? EDIT: one more thing, if your tune was the root cause, it would be helpful for the community to see what you did in the tune so that we can avoid similar pitfalls. |

According to GM the reason my warranty was voided is due to the calibration history signifying that my car was tuned and the tune caused the damage....There has been ZERO work done on my transmission by the dealer in finding the actual point of failure nobody will touch the car due to warranty block. GMPP is the only people actually willing to look at it.
