Supercharger removal

Well...installed my Elite catch can the other day on my 2018 1LE. Everything going as planned and began torquing the supercharger bolts in the correct sequence and boom...snapped bolt #1 in the sequence...which is basically the middle bolt along the head on the driver side. Naturally I threw up all over myself and the engine bay. 89in/lbs or 7.4 foot pounds of torque...removed the snapped bolt, ensured the others were torqued to spec...and finished the install. Drove the car and put under boost and didn't feel/run any different. I, however, cannot live knowing I am missing a bolt holding down the supercharger, so, does anyone have a service manual, know where I can get one, or know the procedure on a complete removal of the supercharger? Thank you in advance.

Curious, how did you get the snapped fastener out?

How come this isn’t more prevalent ?!? That’s a hell of an idea, renting access for 30 days.
Thank you for posting that.

OP good luck with the bolt dude. I would have punched myself in the face after throwing up if I snapped one of those suckers too

What you might want to consider is pulling one of the good bolts out and taking it to Lowe's, Home Depot, or auto parts store to see if they have something that will match up in thread count as well as length. It may not be the same, but at least it gets you back 2 sleeping at night once you get the broken bolt out. Keep us updated brother. We're all holding our breath with you

Get the bolt from the dealership. That, or, what I did for my LS6 intake on my 5.3L LS engine was I went to a local bolt supplier. Somebody like Fastenal.

Thanks everyone. The bolt that broke was basically in the middle and it broke on the second go around of the torque sequence. I am concerned but not worried. I’ve driven the car a few times since putting it back together with no issues. The car goes to car show tomorrow then trailered to Austin, TX for paint correction, PPF, and ceramic. When she gets back, she’s going under the knife. Will keep y’all posted

What colour is your car?
Mine is black and in paint correction right now. Lots and lots of scratches and swirls and a spot with a bunch of white specs!!!
This is a brand new car and it went straight to PPF. Wow was I disappointed in the condition of the paint. But, I had read many times that the paint was shit so....

Mine is Summit White. Yes GM paint is the softest out there. Mine is bad as well so they will have their work cut out for them. Gonna be nice when done. Now I get that SC bolt out of the head with no problem and it will be golden.

Do yourself a favour and borrow a quality inch/pound torque wrench. You’ll be fine brother

Send it in and have it calibrated. I had one that was way off.
Actually I had a brand new 1/2 inch torque wrench that was way off first time I went to use it. I was installing a harmonic balancer bolt on a stroker motor I had just built. I could tell something wasn’t right. I borrowed my neighbours torque wrench and sure as shit I was over the torque spec and by that time the bolt was F’ed up.
I gave the T-wrench back to my MAC tools guy and told him to have it checked. It was literally my first time using it. Sure as shit. It was off.
You never know sometimes. I was just glad I didn’t build the rest of the engine with it. Thank god
