When Tracking your car do you...

Reading the owners manual and see it says the "The Tire Deflectors, Lower Control Arm Deflectors and Disc Splash Shields"

Before any racing event, remove the tire deflectors in the front of the vehicle, and replace the original deflector and splash shield with the tall deflector and small splash shield.

Do these tall deflector and splash shield come with the car or do you need to purchase it?
Seems it helps with cooling the rotors when tracking.

Also, what diff fluid are you guys using?
Being the manual says to change that after tracking the car.

Are there any other vehicle prep the 1LE needs?
Sorry to sound ignorant, but this car is slightly different from my 1991 BMW 318is..

Thank you in advance!

I’m pretty sure that is only required for the SS without the 1LE package. I had a 16 2SS and it came with those parts, which I installed when tracking the car. The 1LE comes ready to go.

+1, the 1LE needs no parts swapping like the normal SS calls for.

The pre-track prep is a brake fluid flush to quality DOT4 like Castrol SRF and appropriate oil for track use (explained in the Performance Supplement).

Rear diff fluid only needs changing (with ACDelco 88862624) after every 24 hours of track time, which roughly equates to every 14 track "days", assuming five 20 minute sessions per day.

Thanks Blue & Rye!
When I read SS, I never know if they mean just the SS or also includes the SS 1LE too.
Thanks for clearing that up for me, changing those parts out and back would be a drag.

2019 manual says to change diff fluid at 1500 miles if you plan on tracking the car. It’s like 20 min work and not much for the fluid either.

Thanks for the clarification. For sure I agree with the break-in fluid change, whether you track the car or not. I was specifically referring to the track-time interval afterwards, but I should've specified.

Not tracking my car but changed out the diff at 2300 miles, wanted to do it earlier but the car is too fun to drive and I racked up the miles faster than I planned.

Swapped out to the GM 88862624 I had to get at the local Chevy dealer at over $30/qt.

Since then I picked up six more quarts online for like $15/qt.

Did the second fluid swap at 11,500 and did the trans as well.

Shop around, huge price difference over the counter vs online.

To be 100% clear, diff oil is to be changed BEFORE and AFTER first track event, per the manuals.

At the moment I can't find where it mentions changing it again after the first track event but it's there somewhere.

They sure didn't make it easy to know what to do.

My tech even argued with me about the post break-in rear diff fluid change. It didn't show up in their system that way. I took the manual in and showed him.

It is on page 200 of the owners manual. Glad you posted something because I missed this key detail. 2 track days and half a dozen autocrosses later I guess I am overdue.
