Well, I can tell you from experience heat will break down the slip additive faster when it has to be added in separately versus a differential fluid that has the additive already included.

The OEM fluid in the transmission of my old SS 1LE was swapped out for Amsoil's recommended fluid, and the difference was HUGE, plus transmission temps went down 15 degrees on track. You have to remember that OEM's will always work out a deal with their oil suppliers for a balance between a fluid that will be good for its intended use with what is cheapest.

You will be changing gear fluid much faster than the breakdown of the additive will be. RP has the additive in it already. I add more just to be on the safe side. |

the OEM stuff is synthetic with the Friction Additive already in it, why mess with a good thing?
This "can vs. should" discussion lacks any data pointing to aftermarket fluid being any better than the OEM. |

Might as well run the OEM fluid in the GT4 Spec ZL1 too, right?

Nor is there any data pointing to aftermarket being worse. |
