Weld Wheels Front Runner Help

So i got some weld s71 front runners i was told by weld
An 18x5 will fit the front with stock brakes, but they actually
Dont clear the brakes and i already mounted tires so im stuck with them.
Is there anything i can do? Can i get a spacer and some longer wheel studs??
Or should i change the front brakes to a smaller brake? And if so what should
I buy?

Do you have anything in writing from Weld stating they will fit, if so, then I would be on the phone...

It is always recommended though to test fit a wheel prior to mounting a tire on them.... That might be your issue and if so I apologize for commenting...

A spacer might be your only option if there is one available... Is it a backspace issue... If you are going to a spacer, I recommend you get some very high quality studs. These cars carry quite a bit of weight on the front....

How big of a spacer do you think i would need? And how long would the studs have to be?

Weld did the same thing to me on the 5th Gen with 18 X 8" S76 on the front that rubbed on turns. Told me they would have their Engineers check out the specs and never got back to me. Tried to get a reply after that and it was just crickets.

But they sure did like using pics of my car in their Brochure.

There are too many variables to answer that... Is it a backspace issue, it is a diameter issue... Is it something else.... The studs would be determined by the thickness of the spacer.... If you can't send the wheels back, take them and the car to a reputable shop and let them guide you...

You may be best off trying to sell them and buy the proper wheels for the car..... If the cost of those is the worst you ever spend consider yourself fortunate... This is the path I personally would follow... After tearing someone up on the phone at Weld...

Pretty funny they still use my car on their website.

https://www.weldwheels.com/gallery/chevy-zl1-s76/

...and Texas Speed has my car on their home page but if you notice I had the stock wheels back on the front.

https://www.texas-speed.com/default.aspx?

The problem is their 18" wheels are basically 17" because they step down on the rear so the barrel is actually 17 where it meets the brake calipers

I bet Weld would answer your call today if you wanted more wheels...

Only a 20inch diameter S71 will clear the stock ZL1 front brakes because the spoke design.
With that wheel most run a 20x5 front & 17x10 rear. You might find a standard SS Camaro owner who’d buy those off you instead of spending money putting smaller brakes on your just to make them fit.

Why did that style weld rub considering it was an 18? Was it because the front tire being to tall 28’s?

Not a rubbing issue. They dont clear the brakes so they dont fit

The only 18” weld that clears zl1 calipers is the s79 wheel with a spacer. 1” spacer I believe.
