Here is another pull.
The torque number is more realistic but still at a high rpm. A touch over 600 torque at about 5,000

HP = torque * RPM / 5252 The torque and hp graph lines will always cross at 5252... this one shows to be at 5750, or about 500 rpm high... software, calibration, operator knucklehead, something isn’t right... toss those graphs in the garbage... the first graph shown below is set for mph on the bottom, and this is a third gear pull, 3.07 gears, we didn’t want to spin the dyno wheels 185 mph, but the lines cross at 5252 rpm, or about 108 mph.. the first sheet is an old dyno pull on my car where we maxed out the dyno at that time, which was good for 1200 RWHP in the software... (since upgraded).. note where the hp flattens out at 118 - 125 ish mph... The next three are graphs pulled off of the web showing the lines crossing at 5252... the second graph is denoted at the “E.” The third graph is the bluish and reddish lines, crossing at 5252, the last one shows them crossing and both lines continuing to climb... as did my graph...

OP you may want to politely point out their 5252 problem ask them to check their dyno calibration ... and re-test for free (especially if you paid for the test). Otherwise find a new dyno shop. That shop is incompetent. |

The operator is incompetent if he justifies those numbers in any way. Even his explanation of an actual lower HP number and why is clueless. I did not notice the missing 5250 intersection, but the previous posters are dead on. Enjoy your car, but if you want dyno numbers in the ball park, don’t use these or this shop.

Why are the left and right scales on the OPs chart different? Is that why the cross section isn't 5252?

Thanks for the feedback guys. I was afraid of getting these responses. Lol... oh well. I’d rather not take it back to them. Just a live and learn. Cause I figure- why do I have to show someone how to use THEIR equipment and if they knew what they were doing they would have done it right the 1st time.

My previous question still stands....my dyno chart is the same, meaning a different scale for the HP and TQ. My chart has TQ on the right and goes up to 550. the scale on the left for HP goes up to 650. Therefore, mine do not cross at 5252 either. Just saying...

I spoke with my tuner, and he stated, the values can be set from one side to the other at any scale he desires. This can cause the lines to cross at different “rpm” values. Say at 5750 as shown above. He did state however, on the planet earth, with our known physics, the torque and hp will cross at 5252. So, he said you can take a ruler and align it straight up at 5252 rpm and you will have the same hp/tq value at that speed/rpm. This is something he has no need to do, and therefore it has never come up in conversation between us... He said this might be more commonly seen in motorcycle shops or shops where diesels are tuned, where the power plants may have wildly varying hp/tq numbers... say a diesel with 500 hp and 1400 ft/lbs of torque... to get them on the same sheet without flattening one to the point of no variation, the scale values are varied... I hope this alleviates some stress, and I do apologize for the less than complete response earlier... Please don’t go fire your tuners or call them out like I did above...

It still looks goofy with HP that high ... like it's got "happy dyno syndrome" so I only take back 1/2 of what I said

Dude, I’m laughing my ass off, as that’s the same way I was thinking... I was mostly right so I’m only taking it half way back... lolol

A stock ZL1 will dyno, SAE, on a dynojet as set forth in may threads on this formum--540-563rwhp and simllar rwtrq. A car with the OP's mods will pick up a few rwhp and may lose a few rwtrq. I have rotofab and the Borla S Type Catback on my car.
These mods will not increase rwhp to 627 etc. Further, any shop that uses "standard correction factor" instead of "SAE" is to be scrutinized with a suspicious eye. A dyno is a tuning tool to simply show the changes in power, torque and air/fuel, etc. before and after mods. |
