I am not entirely sure why people are suggesting low voltage. I guess that could be an issue but it was not for me. This problem came up for me entirely unrelated to voltage and during highway cruises.

Rear axle service

I have a 2017zl1 with 6000 miles. Threw that code. Took it to the dealer and was a misfire on #8cyl injector on cold start up. They installed 4 inj I paid to have the other 4 done. The part # has changed in the parts. I just wanted the newer version on all 8. But gm doesn’t feel that’s needed. I disagree

I'm on my way to the shop here in a few to diagnose. I'll report back with what the CEL comes up with. The crazy thing is. ALL my lights are on. Even my brake light. TC. Tire pressure. Everything. Plus, it won't let me toggle through the drive modes so. Who knows. Car seems to run fine btw. I went through all gears at red line just to see if It would blow up. It didn't, so not sure if it's just electronic glitch or there really is an issue.

Wouldn't hurt to load test that battery. A battery with a dead cell will read full voltage until there is a load placed on it. 14V is good for a battery but that number could easily become 8 as soon as a significant load is placed on the circuit. That could explain the slow cranking you have noticed.

We pulled up 27 CAN codes. Checked everything. Went home, Sorian said, wait, do me a favor, unplug your NGauge from the port. I did, car ran like a champ after that. He had told me a few guys before ran Ngauges and for some reason they through codes through the plug in area and it triggered off a ton of CAN codes. Car's been clean and clear ever since. Ran all night last night, no issues. Now, just need to find another gauge to use. haha.

Well, it wasn't the Ngauge afterall. Cleared all codes, went a full day and service rear axle, service stabilitrack came back on. Smh. Eh.

Hey all, something very similar happened to me on Thunderhill last summer (first track day in her no less...) and it was a bum ECU. Simplest explanation in some way. Replaced it and she was fine.

Mine had thrown ~10 codes including rear axle & dif but they returned after clearing them no matter what we did. Just one possibility. Though I’ve not heard of this from others, I have seen plenty of people complain about ‘electronic gremlins’. (Eg when steering disappeared on Ominous at Laguna)

Btw, on my Ngauge yesterday, at start up, shows 12.0 on battery, then as I drove went to 14.0. I wonder if my load at start up is too low, triggering these codes. Is 12.0 low voltage tho? I was out all night tonight doing pulls, car ran great. We stopped for a break. Bout a hour. Started the car, within 1 minute, blam, all the service lights came on again. Limped it home. Maybe it's time for a dealer visit, but I'm so blown on the warranty, they'll prob get me for something it really isn't. The weird thing, car still runs fine. Pulls hard. Obviously I lose the power steering, but I'm having no issues on driveability, so that's why it's so weird. You get all these warnings, but the car still runs fine.

I’m in the same boat, car keeps showing the service stabilitrack and ABS lights while cruising. I swapped all the coils and wires. I’m charging the stock battery which shows 12.9-13 volts, not sure if that’s normal. I swapped to an AGM battery but my guess it’s not keeping up with all the electronics on this car. Hopefully when I install the stock battery it fixes the issue. Anyone have an update on their dealer visit?

Reviving an old thread. 18 ZL1 with 1600 miles. Wife just had this error message pop up during cold start this morning. Closest dealer is like 3.5 hours away an I don’t trust them anyway. When I get home I will check batter voltage and look for any loose coils plugs/wires.

Any more info?

I took my car to the dealer when it first showed up and they say there was no issue with the car, I have had it 2 more times showing since I took it. time to take it to another dealer, i guess.

Anyways, here is the info for future owners or those that run into this issue. The code has not returned in the few days I have had the car back.
If I understand correctly, it's an electronically controlled hydraulic system.

Reviving an old thread because this is the same issue I came across this morning, 30 degrees cold start no other warnings, just Service Rear Axle. I haven't being able to inspect coil packs, or battery test. I'm wondering if the cold comes into play here?

Anyone else have any similar effects on their car? I'm traveling for work to ATL this weekend and won't be able to get the car into a dealer until at least some time next week.

Following because I noticed this message today. After driving the car for about an hour, I arrived at my destination. I was backing out of the parking slot shortly after putting it in D, trying to adjust the parking position of the car. I also noticed that for a couple of seconds, before the message appeared on the dash, the steering wheel was not responding very well - it felt hard to turn. I switched off the engine and then I turned it back on and the message disappeared. I drove the car for about an hour and a half with no issues.
