2018 1SS 1le non-Bose to 2019 2SS Bose Conversion
I tried calling the parts department at my local Chevy dealership but I could hear the dumbfounded facial expression in his voice.
I would like to convert my AVI system over from the current 2018 1SS 1lenon-bose system that's in the car to a 2019 2SS bose system. Other than the center head unit and speakers, are there any other computer modules I would need? I'm assuming that it would not mess with the ECU/engine/suspension tuning of the 1le package as that should be in the ECU itself. Am I wrong on this assumption? Normally I would just replace the head unit with a better aftermarket option with upgraded speakers, however the integration of vehicle controls to the center screen makes that a non-option. Thanks in advance for your help and resources |

There has to be a way to keep center screen integration in the vehicle. And I especially wouldn't spend this much money to upgrade to the Bose system. Not that it's all that bad but you can do SO much better for the price. Also the 2019s are wired different.

RideWithDanger is spot on. The 2019's use AVB while the older models use MOST50. I would think getting your 2018 upgraded to 2018 Bose gear would be hard enough. Trying to adapt 2019 in there may be downright impossible as your control modules on your car likely can't even talk to the Bose amp even if you add all the wiring that is missing.
Say nothing of finding/paying for the missing 2019 Bose equipment. Not many in the bone yards to pick over yet. Buying from the dealer would net you the value of a new car before you are done probably. There are a ton of threads about people upgrading the stock non-Bose system. I would definitely invest there. LC2, JL Fix, DM-608. Lots of options to take factory high level and bring it down to something you can re-amp. |

To be honest I'm trying to find ways to upgrade the 19' Bose system without dropping a fortune or replacing the entire thing. I'm happy with how it sounds at least. I just always want more lol.

Thanks for the feedback thus far. Yes not doing the Bose upgrade is far more preferable as you can get much better sound quality out of an aftermarket single DIN from Pioneer and some JL Audio speakers than you would from the bose.
What are some threads on fitting in an aftermarket single din with great sound processing and playback? I've tried searching but I've come up empty-handed. |

Oh, I don't think you want to go that route. You really need to keep the factory screen or you are asking for trouble.
Lots of threads on using lc2i and other high to low converters and DSP's to take the sound coming from the factory system and make it usable for your own amps and speakers. This video gives a pretty good high level of what you would need if you wanted to go the DM-608 route. I went with the 608 and it's a pretty cool processor. |
