That way you don't have to worry about me trying to steal the money from you (if you actually brought it) and I also would not have to worry about you showing up with your friends to steal my money. Trust me, I've seen some shit go down. It was a safe way for both of us.

You threw that in after you realized that it might be possible that I do own these cars. And that was your attempt to back out or to, at best, have a shot at breaking even. The new Raptor will have the GT500 engine!! I posted that a few days ago but it kinda got lost in the mix. So to get this thread back to GT500 vs ZL1 related content...does GM need a competitor to this? Maybe a LT4 powered SUV or truck but tuned specifically for truck and SUV duty? Would be pretty cool. And if the GT500 gets an update after 2021 if the S550 carries on longer, could we also see the Raptor get those upgrades? Personally, I would probably prefer the Raptor over the GT500 for practical uses!!

Also is GM missing a market for high powered SUVs and trucks? Trackhawk, Raptor, X5M, X6M, Cayenne Turbo, etc. That LT4 needs to find it's way into something with 4WD/AWD if you ask me. Then we can see a good comparo with all the competitors!!

I certainly think so. For GM this would be parts bin engineering. All the pieces are there. They just have to put them together. I was really disappointed that the ONLY engine available in the new XT6 is the same 3.6L HFV6 that is in the XT5. Which is pretty much a mild evolution of the 3.6L HFV6 that is in my 2012 SRX. Especially when there is a 3.0TT on the shelf, not to mention a 4.2TT. Both Cadillac exclusive engines, by the way. Yes, they are currently RWD only, but so was the 5.7L / 6.0L small block before it found it’s way into the Impala SS.

Now that Lincoln is getting in the game with a 400 hp 3.0TT in the Aviator, maybe there will be an internal push to spike the punch for the Cadillac CUVs.

Now, after all that, I’m not totally convinced that Ford will put the GT500 engine in Raptor. It just seems like it’s too much club for the course. And a very expensive club at that.

Well the Raptor now is what, like, $55K? I doubt this engine will push it more than up to $60K-$65K. What do you think? I also think that perhaps Ford needs to get as many of these engines out there to re-coup some of the money that went into the R&D. They might not have any choice but to offer it in a second platform. FCA offers the Hellcat engine in 3 and soon to be 4 different platforms. The LT4 is in 3 different platforms. It is becoming clear that the path to success is in offering powerplants across several platforms. Thinking ahead, perhaps the GT350 engine needs to trickle down to the GT. And if the Raptor gets the GT500 engine, then maybe a third platform, something by Lincoln, might do it well too.

BUT!

GM doesn't really have a good platform to use it in...because the Tahoe/Burban isn't really a good option, and all of the other SUV/CUV whichever you want to call them are junk for the most part...

They really had a shot with doing a new Blazer, but chose a piss poor platform and a hideous looking model at that..

Hellcat is built on a high volume assembly line in Mexico. It ain’t that expensive to produce. LT4 is built on a high volume line at GM’s biggest engine plant in Tonawanda, NY. It ain’t that expensive to produce. Yes, some are “hand built” (assembled, actually) at Bowling Green for Z06 buyers willing to pay an additional $5,000 for the privilege of participating in the engine build for their cars, but all others are built at Tonawanda.

Voodoo and Predator are handcrafted at Ford’s Romeo Performance Build Center in extremely low volume. They ARE expensive. I seriously doubt Ford would take on the expense of adding it to a high volume production line. And adding Raptor volume won’t thin out any costs, since the major cost of build is the high priced talent that actually assembles and tests the engines. Putting that engine in Raptor is likely to jack the prices into the $80k range, unless Ford is willing to take a margin loss on each of them.

The Hellcat motor is only offered in the Challenger and Charger. You can get an SRT8 Durango, but that is the 392. There are rumors coming of a Hellcat powered Ram and the new Jeep Truck, but nothing official yet.

As for the GT350 motor, I wouldn't want it anywhere near my Mustang if I had one...perhaps some of the tech/upgraded parts...
