This is hella funny... when I go in to the dealer I already have my financing taken care of. I get some great perks from my bank BOA for auto loans. Dealers just cant beat it. They ask I tell them the rate, they go away. With this car the finance manager told me that he could not beat the APR but if I went with their bank I would get the same terms and he would take an additional 1K off the deal. So I went with it and saved an additional grand after deal was sealed LOL

Stealerships are shady all of them so buyer beware do your homework, get you own financing and know what others are paying before you go in the box.

Not ALL dealerships are shady, but most are and all are wanting to make money. But it's not always better to use your own bank. Banks can't compete with some new car APR's which are .9 to 1.9 now.

When I bought my 2018 they told me I had to finance at least $7,500 on it to qualify for a $1,500 GM rebate. I did it, made 3 payments on it, then paid it off. Not sure why the finance and immediately pay off option wasn't discussed.

Dealers get substantial kickbacks from the finance companies, hence the push to get you to finance the car...

I hate seeing things like the OP's experience.

I paid cash for my 2SS (cashiers check anyway) and as other(s) have pointed out selling a new car without a new car warranty is not only illegal, it just does not happen.

I used Concord Chevrolet as they had the best pricing. I'm in SF but would have gone to Los Angeles for a fly and drive. The LA dealers did not want a cash deal - that was the only close quotation. The only issue was the finance guy at Concord trying to sell me an Ally instead of a GMEPP, claiming they were the same and the same company. I passed on that and he threw a tantrum in the office.

On the flip side we bought two new Subaru Outbacks last year in cash as well (one got totaled a month after purchase by a guy not paying attention taking a left). Subaru in Livermore was completely void of any hassle, bait and switch or hard sell - they asked if we wanted any of it or to just move along in the process. That's the way it should be.

Getting dealers to reform can only be done via the pocketbook, however there are a lot of dealers that make their money on sub-prime and could care less about anything else. I get the business model - but it sucks for the rest of us. My local Chevy dealer in San Leandro is like that - the service department seems quite good - but the sales department is not competitive - and they don't want to be, perhaps because they don't have to be.

Shop around. Buyer beware.

Nope, we have 1.9 for 37-60 right now on some models and 2.9 on everything else. Current bank loans for new cars are in the 4's now with some credit unions in the 3's. Not saying dealers won't try and push you to a higher rate, but if you're somewhat educated and informed (google search for 10 seconds) you can get a better rate from a dealer.

They are FOS.
I put a down payment on mine and did all the financing all while knowing I would never use it because when the first payment came due I sent in one big payoff. So its like the same thing and I got the warranty and the extended warranty. Try another dealer. Yours is BS'ng you.

Not sure why anyone would think a product warranty from the manufacturer would have anything to do with how it was paid for.

you should call GM about this and do a gm survey. They are scamming other people like they tried to scam you. GM wont like that.
