What tires do you run on the street and did you replace your oil pump during your build?

The car has less then 3k miles so the tires are stock. No, I did not change the oil pump. No reason to do so.

So your hope is that when the Whipple goes on, it will shift the power band higher making the car hook better? Is it really possible that the Whipple will make that much less low end than the 1.7 ??

Absolutely, this thing now is 715 TQ, and it’s flat from the start. This little 1.7 was made to do that. It runs out of steam up high and when you open the rest of the engine up and increase the flow through the engine the boost level goes down. The lower pulley just brought the boost back up to stock levels on my build.

What kind of numbers/ powerband do you think a stock blower / stock pulley with a cat delete, E85, and a small cam (say a BTR Stage 1 22X/24X .63X/.62X 116+6).

Does that cam retain the stock lifters? Are you really planning on a different blower in the future? To run full E85 you can’t do a lot of mods without addressing fuel. In stock form switching to just E85 your about done. Maybe a CAI and TM TB but that’s it.
Powerband in my opinion would stay the same, just a lot more TQ. On the low end. I would say 65hp increase.
Do what you want but if your asking me, CAI and TM TB. Then do a tune to optimize the two. Until you unlock the Tourqe management in the ECU the system is going to adjust the throttle position reguardless of where your foot is once it reaches its set max limit.

Yes I believe that cam does use stock lifters.

By E85 I also meant all the components needed to run E85 (FIC injectors, flex sensor, DSX low side).

You don't want to run a cam on stock boost unless you're interested in losing power or staying the same for a hefty part and labor bill. Opening the valves more is not what you need.

Stock fuel system can't support 100% E85 at any point. Pulleys aren't as bad as they're made out to be, just stick with a reasonable pulley like 2.3 upper or 15% lower and you'll pick up power and torque in all situations. If you add something like E85 or Meth or both, you'll pick up a lot.

Remember in the beginning of this conversation I said make a plan and stick with it? There are so many options out there to achieve your goal. Everyone has a opinion, do what makes you happy.
My build was all about pump gas and drivability. Remember I’m still using the TM TB, this thing behaves like stock and all I have to do is stop at the gas pump.
I’m toying around with the idea of adding the DSX low side, 103 TB and sending this little blower out to Jokerz for porting just to see what the end results are. Wouldn’t be to shabby for this little 1.7. There’s no doubt I’m leaving some on the table with the small TB and a friend of mine picked up 35hp on a 730hp build after porting the blower.
With that said the two combined could very well add close to another 50hp on my build. 770 to the wheels assuming a 15% drive line loss and I’m close to 885 at the crank. Not sure what level 93 or in my area 94 Sunoco gives up with this engine design but that’s a pretty good number on the pump only.

So Livernois' "high lift" cam drives well? Sounds really rowdy in that video you linked.

I understand your guidance on picking a plan and sourcing the right parts and shop. That is a given for any build.

Given that we do not have 93 or 94 in CA, and our 91 is terrible, E85 is the go-to fuel for this part of the country for any sort of forced induction build.

Appreciate the insight!

Drives great, I didn’t go all out on the stage 1. Keeping the little TB is what makes this thing drive like stock. You only know it’s got the power when you put your foot in it.

Stage 2 Update:

Sending back to Livernois in May for Stage 2 of this build. Have had a lot of fun with this car and it just keeps getting better. I’ve decided to make Stage 2 of this build all about the fuel system. Now I know there are a lot of options and opinions on this topic but like always I’m going in my own direction.

Livernois custom basket and OEM type in-tank fuel pump
Livernois custom fuel line
Rear mounted flex fuel sensor
LPE Big Bore High Side Pump
Nostrums DI injectors

I’ve decided to invest now in a fuel system to support the addition of the Edelbrock 2650 unit and E85. I will now take advantage of the E85 and Do Stage 3 of blower install over the winter. I feel pretty confident that we will see 800RWHP on E85 with the 1.7 Eaton.
I want to shout out to EDFHOBBIES for all the great insight of his build, I think our builds are running in Parrallel with each other. Stage 3 for me will be 2650, LPE custom blower snout and their soon to be available 118mm TB, ROTO-FAB Big Gulp. Will share results as soon as I get them.

Sounds like a great build to come.. fyi I picked up 24 hp on the 9.2 lower added 5 more degrees timing still tuning on 93, 103mm TB, livernois heads, Lingenfelter GT31, and rotofab. 781 plus 24 now..

Still need to test more spacers, 112mm, and vararam intake... then tune on e85

Awesome build for sure, so your sitting on 805 with 93. Did you see where Lingenfelter turned a 9.39 at Atlanta Dragway yesterday?
