I haven't really seen any pictures on how the intake tube was plugged. I'd appreciate seeing how some of them look

Heh, I wouldn't get too worked up over those engineering dollars spent, check out the exhaust system audio engineer's comments below, starting from the 24:25 mark and specifically on the sound tube at 26:24

(For some reason, this clip was deleted from youtube, but luckily I had captured it locally. You need to download it from dropbox, the inline viewer only shows the first 15 minutes.)

they started talking about the sound tube but didnt finish. like most shows on cars they are talking about something while showing you something else then they get it wrong. they were talking about the zl1 front end while showing you the SS front end. they mention the supercharged V8 but then when they talk about available engines they dont mention it. Show business never gets anything right. At least this show mentions there is a V8.

Full 1LE suspension, with BMR adjustable sway bars and links, GM aluminum cradle bushings, Hurst shifter with lighter reverse spring, TWM shifter knob, Tick level 1 transmission. I should have bought a ZL1

True that, they never finished the sound tube design discussion. The "engineering" part I thought was interesting is that when experiencing lower than expected sound levels inside the car, he went out and bought an el cheapo washing machine hose and hooked (hacked?) it up between the intake pipe and the firewall Kind of a romantic wild west cowboy engineering approach, right inside a gargantuan corporation. I like it and am baffled at the same time.

I'm not sure how to upload the picture without creating some account with an online host. It's pretty simple really. just remove the 90 on the intake and plug that hole. follow the tube to the firewall and remove it there. I took the hose off the firewall bracket and used it for my wire pass through. I got my plug at the local parts store.

Thanks very much for the link.
I guess now I will have to get a Dropbox account so I can see the whole thing.
The "preview" is awesome.

The video (what I could see of it) makes me proud.
Having owned gen1 and gen3 Camaros and a lot of other Chevrolets, I have wanted another Camaro for years but had to wait for just the right one to come along.
And of course it finally did.

The story of how the sound tube came to be (the washing machine hose) is very intriguing and I can't wait to see the whole video.
But it in no way makes me regret removing it and erasing as many traces of its presence as possible.
Good riddance to bad garbage IMHO.
There is a longer story to sound tubes (and other such frilly "enhancements").
They go back much earlier than the current vintage of muscle cars-

Thanks again for snagging the video and sharing it.

BTW I don't think you need a dropbox account, I see a direct download link even when not logged on:

Yes indeed, that worked and now I can archive it.
I never really did much of anything with dropbox, but now I know.
The video is excellent and inspiring, though as JCunningham mentioned it did leave significant things out.
Another example- heavily touting the V8 and then showing detailed assembly of the LGX V6 (but that works for me ).
Giving the producers the benefit of doubt though, the missing material may have been present and some editor chopped it out to fit the time slot.
We need an hour long "director's cut" version.

Everyone on the forum should watch this.
Thank you again for storing the video and for sharing the link.
Awesome.

All right, I did a rig job delete this weekend with some duct tape and a 1.25" PVC cap, just to interrupt the sound flow at the intake.

I want to remove the pipe. tried to pick up this ACE hardware plug this morning, but the part number is not in their system, and I could find nothing similar. This looks like a pretty clean delete in this old post. I did PM the forum member.

Yes, that works too, and it is more or less what I did initially (rubber stoppers actually) just to try the idea out before committing any serious time and money to it.
The result was so dramatic that for me it immediately became a permanent delete.

I found the source of those plugs:
1" hole caps with multiple uses:

you need to make sure the cap cant get sucked into the engine. i wouldnt trust anything that can pass through the hole in the intake.
