First detailing - ceramic coating
Hi!
As this will be my first detailing after purchase, I want to add ceramic coating. I see that the packages that detailing companies offer in my area are around $2500 for Pro coating (in Ontario). I consider that a bit too expensive for my current budget, but they also offer packages that are way less. I am sure that Ceramic Pro is top of the line, but can I go with Cquartz UK 3.0 or Sonax CC36 and consider Ceramic Pro later? Are they good quality? I would like to see some pictures with those applied if you have. Are they hard to remove / can damage the paint if I want to add Pro later? Thank you! |

I personally don’t find CeramicPro to be any better than Cquk,
yes you can take it off but it will require a full machine polish to do it Keep reading, you can do it yourself for 500 bucks and get excellent quality with any of the products that are out there , and that includes the cost of a new polisher. Look for posts here from Guunk on doing it yourself |

I would do it myself but I am afraid of polishing (even by pros) and the weather here is not so friendly. I have to wait another month to be able to get my pressure washer out, and the hard water here...

You should not be afraid of polishing with an orbital, That's urban myth. With a foam pad and an orbital you could hold the orbital in a position for 10 min , you wouldn't do any damage to the paint. Orbitals are made for amateur detailers.

Make sure to claybar it and use a cleanser to remove all previous wax, some kits come with those items. You might have to polish it if you have scratches or swirl marks. Do it in a garage when the humidity isn't awful. Apply in a crosshatch pattern and follow directions for removal. Just like waxing a car. |

Hey there...message to original poster...I notice you're in the Toronto area.
I had my hot wheels Camaro done with cquartz pro by... gta in detail . You can google their contact info. Fellow's name is Kevin. I had my car done shortly after I picked it up and paint correction and cquartz ceramic application was about half of the $2500 figure you mention. Price can vary depending upon how much paint correction is needed to get rid of swirls, light scratches, etc. However, if your car is fairly new and the paint doesn't need much prep you'll be around the figure I noted. He has a colleague that also does Xpel clear film protection. Both guys do AMAZING work - they've worked on a few of my sports cars and I don't hesitate to recommend them. Apparently Camaros are known for thin paint so you may want to look into applying the Xpel clear film on the areas of the car that typically pick up stone/debris chipping. I don't have any financial connection to the shop, just wanted to refer a great detail shop I've personally used. The shop is located near Toronto air port (Pearson). Any questions feel free to contact me on this forum or call the shop directly. |

Tried some quotes, seems that I can’t get below $1000, for a “base” coating (not Ceramic Pro). For the price I might get my own tools and use them for the Mazda also. No skills yet, I am a beginner in detailing (meaning that I know how to wash my car, but that’s about it).
My main problem now is the hard water. Are there any filters for that? |

all the forum answers (anywhere) may not really be valid research. Start reading here about paint sealants, polishing, cleaning, washing and everything else you need to know I just really can't think of a question that anyone could ask that is not answered here in Mike's videos…
https://www.autogeek.net/detailingtips.html Also Google AMMO NYC videos… |

You don't have to spend 2k on ceramic coating. Ceramic Pro 9h is a good product and you can choose how many layers you want. 1 layer will give you 3-5 years of protection depending on how you take care of it, garage or outside. If you want 5 layers and ten years of protection then it will cost 2k with paint correction. We did my wife's car, full paint correction, one layer of 9h on all surfaces for $1400. I had my Camaro full correction, Adams coating, and expel the front end for $1200. Would I do it again, probably just use Wolfgang paint sealant every 6 months and save some money.

Maybe this should be in the Cosmetic - Wash, Wax, Detail section?
