I don't see any problem using 5/30. It is alternative oil listed in the owners manual for my 19. IMO the biggest advantage to the 0/40 was not having to switch it out to 15/50 when I go to the track.
So I don't think you would have a problem or issue staying with 5/30. In fact, I noticed on the jugs of 5/30 I just bought it is Dexos 2 oil as well.

Guys the new new Mobil 1, 0/40 ESP is a base 4 oil, its a 100% synthetic oil, the rest are not 100% synthetic oil, food for thought.

Not sure I follow you. Regular Mobil 1 is full synthetic as per Mobil's website.

From what I gather the new oil is dexos 2 so it is safe and will not harm your engine at all. I believe it is supposed to have less burn off and not build up on the intake valves as much.

Full synthetic and 100% synthetic are different. Full synthetic base is still fossil fuel oil

I currently have 5w30 but will switch to 0w40 next oil change. GM is basically recommending this. Could be related to effects of oil vapors being burned back through the engine for emissions?? And why some use catch cans.
