Alignment -1LE rear question??

I’ve been on GM’s 1LE track alignment.

Going to a happy medium with -2.4 front camber and wondering should I take down the rear alignment from -2.0 to around -1.5? Thoughts being I want to maximize tire life and trying to get increased traction exiting corners. (Main concern) Car makes 675rwhp 650 rwtq if that matters?

Is this the right direction or will this hurt corner grip? Rear sway bar is on the softest setting, GY 3R’s, 33-34 psi hot. Thanks for help!

I'm running -3* front and -1.5* and have been very happy with tire wear, but I do flip mount my tires when needed to use both sides of the tire. I also am running the softest rear bar setting.

I am at neg 3 front and neg 2 rear. I am happy with it so far. Started at Neg 2.6 front. Needed more.

Great. How's your rears wearing?
Also, do either of you know how the rear camber effects these cars as far as traction exiting & if this settings is causing to much oversteer?

I am at -2.7(f) and -2.0(r). Have been extremely happy with the overall handling and wear. Actually surprised how even the wear has been after a couple of track days as-well.

-2.0 on the rear gives me nice even wear. Just watch you hot track tire pressure. Keep it around 35. 38 and above seems to be too much. 33-34 should be good like you stated. Mine makes about the same rwh and rwt as yours.

I would go with more camber in the front. At least -2.7.

Ok, very helpful.

What’s your front camber set at? Trying to even tire wear. Maybe I should leave it and just flip the tires once the insides get thin?

I'm at -2.9 with good wear but I could use a little more. I'm going to -3 next week and then headed to Sebring. Will report back after those 2 days on the track

Toe is very important to make sure you have good wear with increasing the camber. The moment the toe gets out of spec and the tire is "sliding" while rotating is bad. You can wear out the inside edge of tires quickly at that point.

The GY 3Rs can't be dsmounted and flipped due to their asymetrical pattern. If I get 6 days out of a set I consider that good.

Well, thanks everyone for the help! Not sure I listened well, but I did appreciate all your help. I decided to adjust both front and rear after a new set of tires were installed. Going to try this combo to see how the front tires wear, # of track days, sessions, etc. I can report back after the season. So at the last minute Here is what I chose over GM’s track alignment recommendation. Hope I don’t regret.

What led you to go against the grain with those numbers? Just curious on your thought process. Personally I think you are going to kill your fronts and your rear will make the front push.

The rear will be fine. I still have more outer were than inner with neg 2. No noticable traction issues. I agree you will regret the front but sometimes its best to find out the hard way.

I know this is talking about the ZL1 1LE track settings, but I'll add in my .02 using GM's track settings on my SS 1LE.

Corner grip is improved, but I do notice slightly less rear traction (especially from a dig). Not a huge amount, but there does seem to be some penalty in straight line traction for increased corner grip with the more aggressive rear neg. camber settings.

You may very well be right. I think I'm trying to see if there is a happy medium for front tire wear. I may be unhappy with the cars balance. Not after the very fastest lap so much as having fun and longevity.

I hope your wrong....but probably right. lol
If I notice an immediate difference I wonder if playing with tire pressures will help?

Thanks

Moral to the story... GM knows what their talking about for max track alignments. Unfortunately at the cost of wearing fronts out in half the time as rears. I probably shouldn't mix and match, but will keep you posted.

Again, thanks to all for help to all!
