My oldest (20yo) was out this weekend at MSR-Cresson on the 3.1-mile track. It was his first time on the 3.1 and only second time ever behind the wheel. He was on new RE71R's as it was supposed to rain all weekend, plus, Novices are supposed to be on 180TW or higher tires.
Anyways, he was running 2:32-2:34 this weekend, which is respectable. I was asked by a couple guys to post a video of me behind the wheel. This is from last June in 82F weather. I downloaded this for my buddy who wanted to see his car from behind. I'm not much of a video posting guy. I have run 2:21.01 (and other very low 2:21's) with the same set up last year without a passenger. With passengers, I always run in PTM Sport 1 and don't go over the blind hill (Leap of Faith) at WOT, I don't carry quite the speed down the hill in the S's (often hit the 3rd-gear limiter), brake at 124ish vs. 120 after the main straight, etc. Alone, I push it harder, upshift to 4th before Richochet, etc. Also, the normal Start / Finish is far down the main straight not where I had it set this day. As FYI, my AIM SOLO 2 and the PDR are very close if set to the same point on track. I have the front aero from the ZL1 1LE on the car this year, so, hoping for a bit better. Car looks good with it, so, not expecting much as you only get to a bit over 120 once. I need to get smoother on the throttle, but, maybe it's my pedaling drag cars with the front end in the air for three+ decades... I'll get a video from last year of a 2:21 flat up one of these days. There is more in it than that, too, with a more experienced driver. I learn something every time out there. Be safe and have fun! |

First time @ NJMP thunderbolt — 1:32.74
This was one of the only traffic free laps I had all day. Really looking forward to getting out again.

Season opener at mini Nordschleife ;)
Hey guys, I just had my first trackday this year at the beautiful Bilster Berg aka mini Nordschleife. It was my 3rd visit there and finally I got lucky with the weather. The pdr does not do justice to the height differences and all the little bumps which the curves are built around. Great fun and probably the most difficult German track after the green hell.
I learned a lot about the car again and was able to post some decent times (anything under 2 min is considered fast there). It never gets old when people think the Camaro is too heavy for this up and down track and then their eyes fall out when hearing it just did a 1:57 ![]() Based on the Cayman GT4 record by a pro driver, I reckon the car can go about 3 sec faster. I already know some points to attack next time to get closer Unfortunately I got pulled for noise after the second session, so short shifting for the rest of the day :/ Here is the best lap and most of the 2nd session. P.S. Thumbs up to Provoste for recommending the Hawk DTC 60 pads in previous posts. By far the best pad I had on the car so far and much better for the discs than the Ferodo DS 1.11 I tried last season.

Shooooie! Man..that'll pucker your bunghole. Looks like you jumped off the gas and stabbed the brakes and tried to correct but she got away from you. Was there a push, or did you feel like you were carrying too much speed on entry? I always analyze vids of stuff like this to keep me humble and to learn

I might could have done some things differently to help recover, but I also could have made it much worse. Bottom line, I think I was just lucky.

Ive only had a handful of events there but I'd have to agree that was unusual and unexpected. I didn't notice the mustang at the top of 5 earlier..good call on a fluid possibly. Anyway nice driving good recovery, I would have had a code brown for sure. |

Intentionally making it look like you're losing it to let traffic pass you, only so you can chase them down and spank them again and again as you lap them. Trickery I say! ![]() Nice driving and even nicer recovery, most would have probably totally lost it. I did notice that mustang down the way, and it could possibly be he left some fluid there...could have blown a radiator hose and left some residual.

I like how you use the entire track, I had to remind myself to breath just watching you drive...LOL! I'm no professional driver or racer for that matter, but the lines you took rewarded you at the end. That is one dippy track, but you handled it well, and one could get sea sick!
