You guys are thinking too logically. He got a number of $800 for 1 front rotor and multiplied it by 4 to get $3200. He clearly knows nothing about the braking system, and that's how he got the number. He should trade someone with a regular SS front brakes to lower his costs because it doesn't sound like he will be going to the track.

I have no noise from the brakes, but they are the dustiest pads I've ever had on a car.

How many miles is everyone getting on oem rotors? I don’t do much track but drive somewhat aggressively. Have 15k miles on oem pads and doesn’t look like I have much pad life left. Wondering if I could resurface and do pads or just get new rotors.

If your rotors dont have deep or long heat checks (cracks) than they are still good. No need to resurface unless they are warped (and you'd know this) as this will only make them thinner, hence being counter productive to their life span. Just get new pads, bed them in and enjoy the car. Cheers!

Sounds like you need new pads which are easy to change before they reach the Brake Pad Wear tab.

What Trackclub said is one sign of needing new rotors, the other is if they're worn down they can reach the minimum (discard) thickness. For the fronts the discard thickness is 32mm, for the rear it's 24mm. The rotors do not require refinishing as part of routine brake system service like the old days.

To the above point, you can wear the pads down past the wear tab (bend the wear tab back). However, you put more heat in the pad, rotor, etc. I only do that in a pinch where maybe I want one more session. As cheap as the pads are, especially the rear, I change all of them "early". The stock pads are a good HP1000 compound from Ferodo with pad and backing plate thickness ~9.5mm.

Watch for pad taper as you get more track time under your belt. Good luck and have fun out there. Your pad wear will vary greatly depending on pace, track, driving style, and PTM setting (or not).

I think so lol

2 Piece rotors only need the disks replaces, you don't need a new forged aluminum hat every time. How much are just the disks?
