New Camaro on the horizon?

I am just curious if anyone has heard or seen the next gen. Camaro bodystyle?

What model may it happen? And has anyone seen any designs at this point?

Or will GM kill off the Camaro again since it isnt selling very well?

The only responsible answer is: Nobody knows. No spy shots. Very questionable rumors. It's almost certain it was/is in some phase of internal development at this point, but it doesn't guarantee it'll actually go into production.

Well since 2014/2015 refresh only lasted 2 yrs we can hope 2021.

For now the only rumor is on the 2019 SS front end tweak as Sema version. Let's hope.

Yeah I am concerned they will kill off the Camaro again but there is nothing we can do if GM decides to do that.

They need to hire someone who can actually style a front end. I don't know who they gave the recent one to.

ATS launched the Alpha platform in MY 2013
CTS moved to Alpha platform in MY 2014
Camaro moved to Alpha platform in 2016

So, looking at normal rollout of models on a new (or in this case upgraded) platform, I would suggest...

CT5 replaces CTS on upgraded Alpha platform in 2020 MY
CT4 will replace ATS on upgraded Alpha platform, probably 2021 MY
Camaro7 will replace Camaro6 on upgraded platform probably 2022

I was only gonna guess 2022 based on Gen 5 model years...

What is your thought on Mark Reuss and other leadership being "performance enthusiasts" will that factor in?

There was some published commentary from a GM person that referenced the next-gen Camaro in context of C8 Corvette, which certainly implies they are thinking about it or working on it (sorry don't have the link, so consider this just another rumor). But anything is possible, everything from it's canceled to Camaro becoming the new front engined performance car to replace the C7, to the Camaro morphing into a crossover SUV (haha only joking there, I hope )

My opinion - I think Camaro will move upscale a bit and become the only GM front engine performance car. I bet C7 lives on a year or two alongside C8 (2020-2022), then Camaro7 comes out in 2022 and C7 dies. C8 continues on with mid-engine performance models. Camaro6 is already very Corvette-like, which I think was done with intention.

The only thing that matters is whether or not the car is profitable at the number they forecast selling. If not, don't count on the 7th gen being reality.

The timing will be what the timing will be. Reuss knows enough about product development to know that just because he says when he wants it doesn’t mean it can happen in that time. He will, and has in the past, had a heavy hand on content and capability. He was the Z/28’s biggest champion. He will no doubt make certain that no matter what Cam7 is, it will perform with or at the top of the class.

Being in the automotive industry, if they haven't lined up suppliers and started talking about prototypes yet, it'll be 2022 or later. I launched my portion of the new wrangler and ordered prototype parts back in 2017 and it came out in 2019. Heck we sourced our suppliers in 2016. Usually when OEM's launch prototyping is when the rumors and leaks start happening. And we haven't had any of that have we?

Will these be built in the Lansing Grand River Assembly plant also?

If they marketed the Camaro as a "lowered personal coupe crossover SUV" but kept it the same I bet plenty of dumbmasses would buy it. Sell an AWD version that its an inch higher and put it in the commerical. Pretend it's the X4 to the Blazer's X5.
