Yes! Definitely a learning curve. Very different engagement than my old Z28. I can get it smooth now, but it wasn't plug and play. |

When I'm leaving for work in the morning I get it on my initial take-off, but other than that it's not really too noticeable.

The camaro definitely has no rev hang so it was a bit of a learning curve and the clutch engagement is different like others have said. Since the weather is getting nice again, I"ll have plenty of time to practice more.

My 17 1SS with 30k on it has done it since new. I've been driving manuals since 1989, so I know it isn't me, but I think it doesn't like low rpm take offs.

Mine does it as well since new. I notice it most when you are in stop and go traffic and or traffic is moving so slow that you have to disengage the clutch.
Right at the grab point is where the shudder is at. It is only a mild shudder and like others have said probably a result of the twin disc design. I am totally okay with it though since it is a characteristic of a high performance clutch system. I would rather that than for it to be smooth and a non-performance set-up. GM does not have a good reputation with clutches, so I feel fortunate that they put a proper high performance clutch system in the 1LE. If any of you are old enough to remember the C5 days, the C5 Z06 clutches were shit and would stick to the floor under hard driving.

Well I had my car checked out by the dealer. The drivetrain tech told me quite categorically that the clutch should not shudder at all. They took it apart and found that the shudder was due to uneven engagement as the pressure plate fingers were uneven. I got a new clutch under warranty and it is buttery smooth now. You guys should probably get yours checked out too if you're still under warranty.

Wow that's great you got it resolved and got a whole new clutch assembly. Most dealers probably would have stated "normal". I had a defective (manual) transmission in a Wrangler once many years ago and I knew it was defective due to the slop and clunking. I had to go to 3 different dealers before one acknowledged it immediately and finally got it replaced.

The twin disc is used to double the contact area of the clutch discs, allowing you to use less aggressive compounds but still get high performance clamping force and smoother engagement. It by it's very design does NOT shudder/chatter more because it's a twin. It can at times, depending on application, be a little noisy when not engaged or when lightly on the pedal. If your clutch is shuddering, something isn't right. It should be smooth.

Wanted to comment on this.
I have a 2020 SS 1le, buddy has same car same miles. Both of these cars will chatter from dead stop to slow/light acceleration into first or reverse in certain scenarios. I can't get GM to give a darn. Even rode with a tech and he says all camaros have clutch chatter. |

I think the op's chatter was a bit different and louder than the noise that the rest of us are dealing with since he got his replaced. Mine sometimes does it at low speeds when engaging first. I don't think I can feel it, just hear it.
